Professional System, Pros / Cons

PROS: The unit was very easy to install, just read the included instruction manual. A rich sound , nice to use with either an amplifier or an audio interface running into the computer. Good sound to record with as well as play live. The tone and volume knobs have good effects.

CONS: The life of the pickup itself is not clearly stated in the literature included with the product. The pickup is made of a thin laminated receiver that fits underneath the bridge of the violin. It has a small, thin efferent audio cable (1/8th inch jack) that fits just a bit awkwardly into the control unit. This awkward angle might cause tension on the cable head. The control unit itself is lightweight, and vulnerable to damage if it slips off the body of the violin (which is a real issue, since it does not completely grab the instrument -- there is a small 1.5 mm space between the brass foot of the control unit and the violin body). It is possible that it is just a nuance from my instrument. A solution to this would be to insert a strip of wood or rubber to compensate the loose space, as well as use a wireless audio transmission system to avoid the possibility of stepping on the cable and ripping the pickup apart. If not, just be careful with the wires/cables.

The plastic material of the control unit seems cheap, although the sound produced is "expensive" / rich. Strange , but acceptable caveat

Overall, I am very pleased with the product and the minor issues seem negligible. We do not live in a Utopia.

Good clear sound.

Response is very clear but I found that the slightest movement of the bridge on the pickup strip changes the sound considerably so you have to work with it to get the honest sound your violin produces without the pickup.however this is not difficult
I have used other more expensive pickups over the years but this is my new regular.I play violin as a professional full time job and would buy this pickup again. For the price its very impressive.

Super quality, after over a year the pickup base had a problem, however it was returned and back in 7 days as new.
I suggest if you have two violins or whatever once you fit this do not change it from instrument, to instrument.

Very fair price and good quality ! recommended
the nice thing is that the preamp is within which is great! and you don't have to change the bridge of the violin ! :)
