Fully equipped for the stage and the street

The Shure SE215-CL in-ear monitors are equipped with dynamic drivers and sound-isolating technology for high-quality signal definition. The monitors sit securely in the user’s ears and come complete with everything that a modern in-ear headset needs – from a removable cable and carrying case through to a selection of interchangeable sleeves. And the SE215-CL monitors are highly versatile, ensuring both a clear and punchy monitor sound on stage and pure musical enjoyment in day-to-day use. What is more, their transparent design (the “CL” in the name stands for “clear”) means these in-ears look as good as they sound.

Comfortable, secure, and great sounding

These in-ears are primarily designed to deliver a transparent sound with a powerful bass response, but another priority is to provide a perfect fit. This is why the cables feature wire-reinforced ends that can be shaped over the wearer’s ears to ensure that the earpieces stay firmly in place if the cable is inadvertently pulled. What is more, the SE215-CL in-ears can suppress ambient noise by an impressive 37 dB – made all the easier by the selection of silicone and memory foam sleeves in three different sizes that are included in the scope of delivery. To aid the secure fit and more effectively eliminate outside noise, the housing design is ergonomic and will sit snugly in virtually everybody’s ears.

One for all

Thanks to their sound-isolating technology, the Shure SE215-CL in-ears are perfect for on-stage performances – from solo entertainers and top 40 bands through to wedding singers and musical ensembles. However, they are also a good solution for presenters and radio/talk show hosts who need to give their full attention to interview participants, music, or video inserts. Musicians will find these in-ear monitors great for both the recording studio and the rehearsal room, and they are the ideal everyday companion for music lovers on the go – whether they are commuting by train, out jogging in the woods, or on a shopping trip.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne - known to many as the "Elvis microphone" - and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.

… and action!

On stage, the SE215-CL in-ears effectively suppress outside noise and deliver a monitor sound that is clear and powerful. The sound isolating capability of these Shure in-ears is a great asset on the go, too: On the train, taking a walk, or out for a run, ambient noise is markedly suppressed, so you can enjoy music, podcasts, audio books, and more without unnecessary distractions. This sound isolation works both ways, of course, so the SE215-CL in-ears can be used for monitoring in the recording studio without the backing track leaking onto the recording. And in all of these cases, the ergonomic form and over-the-ear cable design ensure a secure and comfortable fit, so fans of in-ear monitoring never need to worry about them falling out at the wrong moment.

Great Headphones for great price
Simon St., 17.02.2014
Hi!
At first i would like to excuse my insufficient English skills.
I'm from germany, but i'll do my best, so that you can understand my opinion on this product.
It took me a long time to choose a price range.
At last i decided to spend 100-150€.
I compared the Shure Se 215 + Shure 315 + tBone Ep7 and the Se 215 won, but why?

All 3 In-Ear Headphones sound great, so you'll propably be happy with each one of them :) But i'll try to compare them.

The tBones have a great sound in the lows.
The bass is very direct and deep.
Mids + Highs are ok.
They look pretty good.

The Se 315 have a bit less bass .
But for me it seems like the high frequencies are a bit clearer and better.

The Se 215 sounds very very similar.
There's only a bit less resolution.
They sound only a tiny bit "muffled " compared to the 315.
But I got the impression, that the bass in the 215 is a bit more present than in the se 315 ( even it's not that clear).

For me the tBones have 2 problems :
- You can't change the cable ( when the cable is broken, you have to buy completely new ones)
- You can't bend the cable to you ears that good.

That's why they lost.

The difference between the 215 + 315 were very slight.
That's why i decided to use the 215, and i did not regret that.

Btw the 215 are also great headphones for listening to music.
A very clear sound :)

I hope you understand everything.
If you want to spend only a few money but you want to have good quality, you should go for the Se215.

Excellent in-ear
Mr Transistor, 07.02.2015
I am a little bit of a headphone-freak. I tried a few brands: Etymotic, Shure, Sony, Sennheiser, Boss (yes, they make in-ear headphones), Apple...

I really like my Sennheiser HD600. Great headphones: linear, dynamic, distortion free and comfortable. With the new ear-pads and head-pad they are back as they were brand new.

I was a little bit sceptical about the SE215. I was in love with my Shure E4C. Really good in-ear headphones. Solid bass, clear treble, balanced mids and excellent noise isolation. Unfortunately, the cable broke a few months ago and it wasn't replaceable with a Shure one. I replaced it with another cable but the E4C were falling into pieces.

I decided I didn't want to spend a fortune in new headphones; the SE215 looked reasonably priced so I decided to give it a go.

* Comfort
In-ear headphones can be a little bit of a problem for some people. Especially the bit that goes inside the ear can hurt after a while.

The body fits in my ears perfectly. It shows that Shure put his experience in in-ear designing in the SE215. The tips are soft and don’t produce excessive pressure inside the ear.

The SE215 come with 6 pairs of tips. 3 are made of special foam that adapts to the ear shape. The other 3 are more conventional.

* Cable
The cable is Kevlar® reinforced and it is thick. Much thicker than the average headphone. This makes it mechanically robust, electrically transparent and not prone to get tangled.

The drawback is that touching the cable induces some mechanical noise in the earpieces. Frankly it is not a problem for me but it might be a problem for some.

The SE215 are design to have the cable going around the ear. The cable has a semi-rigid cover in the last few centimetres before the earpieces. This allows the cable to be pre-shaped so every time is ready for your ears. It works great for me but some people may prefer the extra flexible cable used by other brands/models.

Last but not least, the cable is detachable. Yes, you can unplug it from the earpieces, replace it and your headphones are back as new. It is a great idea that I would like to see more often.

* Body
I purchased the clear/transparent version because I like how it looks but the SE215 are available in black as well.

The body is made of solid plastic. There are no semi-rigid parts that inevitably after a few years simply disintegrate.

* Isolation
It is very good. Perhaps too good – I don't recommend them while cycling.

The isolation is so effective that I find hard to understand why people buy active noise-cancellation headphones. In my opinion, the only case where noise-cancellation headphones makes sense is when in-ear cannot be used (e.g. because of the ear shape or if one has ears that cannot tolerate in-ears)

* Sound
They sound so good... I can't take them off. The SE215 pulverise my old Shure E4C. In comparison, the E4C sound like music on the telephone.

The bass is clear and powerful but not overpowering. Trebles are clear and defined. Mids are balanced. The best thing after my HD600.

* Conclusions
If you look for a good headphones that deliver clear, powerful and solid sound the SE215 are an excellent choice.

If own cheap headphones, do yourself a favour and buy the Shure SE215. Portable music will never be the same.

DrumLights, 04.08.2021
I'm (quite successfully) using these in-ear headphones for rehearsals and live shows. Only issue I've got is that, ever since receiving them, the sound in the left earphone tends to disappear/reappear based on my head movements (to the left or to the right), which isn't very cool. Other than that, I've really got no complaints, they do their job wonderfully and are quite rugged and flexible.

PROS
- the cable is long and flexible
- the clarity of the sound is good
- they isolate sounds efficiently
- they come with a carrying bag and interchangeable ear buds, in a good array of sizes

CONS
- most of the time, the sound in the left earphone cuts off; might just be my earphones, might not

All in all, an affordable and quite reliable pair of earphones, that will get you nicely through rehearsals and live shows and that you can also use for music when you're out and about.

JanB..., 31.05.2021
I've been using the headphones for over a year in multiple daily video conferences that last hours.
Pros:
+ No cable break issues
+ Comfortable to wear - no issues even after spending the entire day with earbud(s) in
+ Multiple ear-plugs for different ear-sizes are included
+ Very good sound (disclaimer: I'm not a musician or sound expert)
+ Very good isolation of background noise and no bleeding into microphones while talking
+ I like being able to unplug one earbud from the cable and have a free ear while talking
+ Useful carry case to store them away safe
Cons:
- None so far

General handling recommendations:
Make sure to clean the speaker grid in the earbuds from earwax from time to time.
Be careful while plugging and unplugging the earbuds as their connectors are quite small and will require gentle handling.

Delivery and Packaging from Thomann:
No complaints at all: fast, well-packaged, no payment or other issues.

Summary:
Great headphones for daily use with good noise isolation and durability.
