Super 840

I have a Fostex T60RP, I've been choosing them for a long time, these are super headphones.
But now I need closed headphones to play the electric guitar.

Comfort 840: It doesn't put pressure on my ears. Presses well. Sound insulation is good.
The assembly and packaging makes a good impression.
In the T60RP, the comfort is much better.

The 840 has a good sound. But it certainly differs from Fostex. The main difference is the high frequencies. The T60RP has more of them. The T60RP is more detailed and the scene is bigger. But on 840, absolutely all details are listened to, in all ranges! In fact, of the closed headphones, I like the 840 the most.

I listened to more than 20 models, comparing them with each other. I listened to something on different days. I listened to something several times.
AKG (275, 271 MK2, 371, 361), Sony mdr (7506, 7510), A.T. (M50X, M40X, M30X, MSR7, MSR7b), Beyerdynamic DT (990/250, 770/80, 240, 250/250, 250/80, 231PRO), Shure (840, 440), Mackie (MC250), Yamaha (HPH MT7), Sivga (Phoenix, P2, SV021), Meze (99 Neo, 99 Classic), Fostex (T50RP, T60RP), Focal (Spirit Pro), Sennheiser (hd650, hd560s)

Without doubt the most outstanding monitoring headphones in this price range.

These Shure SRH 840 headphones are described as Professional Monitoring Headphones and they dont fall short of that description at all.
I set out to find headphones that :
- Are comfortable.
- Are of the highest quality possible for the price range.
- Are a well known and quality assured brand.
- Are sturdy, robust and made to last.
- Have a detachable cord that locks in to the headphone socket on the headphones.

The Shure SRH840 were the one of the few candidates that met all my requirements, mostly all others were out of my price range, but having said that now I have put these headphones through their paces, I would now choose these headphones over all the others, because they are precisely what I needed and the overall quality, especially the sound is exceptional for headphones in this price range.
My verdict and marks out of 10 for these headphones are:
- Comfort - [10].
As you can see I put this first and thats because even the most professional sounding headphones in the world are no good if they are uncomfortable, especially headphones that you will no doubt be wearing frequently and being mindful of the effects of prolonged use, not necessarily in terms of volume, since these days most playback devices have built-in protection and sensibly cap off the volume at a safe threshold to protect your hearing, but from my own personal, experience I cannot emphasise enough, to never ignore the pressure points behind the ears, I know only too well,
when I had to wear over-ear, ear muffs, while using loud power tools for prolonged periods over a several days and every time I wore them, I noticed I started getting nausea, prolonged headaches, pain behind the eyes and visual disturbances, and eventually I literally passed out and I realised it was down to the ear muffs being too tight and constantly bearing down on my pressure points.
On first use these headphones did feel a little tight on the pressure points, but by design the headset is very flexible and sufficiently adjustable at first I had to keep taking them off, to make adjustments and "carefully" flexing the headset, in order to loosen them off until essentially they fit with the least amount of pressure on the pressure points.
So overall, no issues in terms of comfort and the pads are a light soft material which make these headphones super comfortable, in fact once adjusted to your head its almost easy to forget you have them on and for me these are offically the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned.
- Sound Quality - [10].
I am not a sound engineer, however I was a test engineer, and having a passion for music and recording, I could see that the sound quality and frequency response across the entire frequency spectrum, highs, mids and lows, remains perfectly well balanced and in my opinion exceptional for headphones in this price range. I have recorded and worked on producing and editing my own tracks and to give them a workout, I first tried the headphones using different instruments through my amp and then played a variety of audio tracks, from raw wave files to mp3, where each track had varying volumes, bass, middle and treble, some clean and with effects and in terms of volume, at full "safe" volume, the sound quality remains perfectly balanced. I also tested them with a device that has an over amplification setting and at the highest volume I could safely test them, the sound quality didn't degrade and was flawless.
Finally I also put them through the sound tests at:

"The Ultimate Headphones (and Earphones) Test" website

These headphones passed all those tests and ticked all the boxes for me and have to again say the qualiity of the sound is flawless and is what makes them stand out from the crowd and punch above their weight at this price range.
- Accessories - [ + ].
I like the detachable cable which also has a locking mechanism so the jack doesn't fall out of the headphones and its also a plus point that you get a spare pair of ear pads, a mini-jack to jack adapter and a leather look bag/case.

Neutral-towards-slightly-warm sounding closed over'ears that isolate outside sound passively well. Really good performers overall, particularly with edm/rock. They lack a bit on the soundstage side but you get open/semi-open cans for that.

Perfect 10

This headphones are directly competitors for the 5-40000 Hz ones! The build quality of abs plastic mass and the drivers are actually as good as posible can be! For a recording studio guy are just almost as good as any pair of super high end Beyerdynamic! They do play in the big league! I will definently use them in the same measure as my Beyerdynamic DT1770! This guys from this companies are not kidding with these products! This are real professional gear and it is telling you this my own person, because i have total musician hearing...The real deal ones.
