Best all-round performing headphones
nerodragon, 13.02.2021
I've been using these Shure brands for a week & kept comparing to the Skullcandys i would normally use for headphone monitoring both music & speech during the radio show that i do on a weekly basis.

Lets get the Con out of the way considering it's the only one.

Basically these are as best all-round performing as it gets within the £100 bracket. I think if you're serious about any kind of audio work, investing in quality equipment is essential so you can do the kind of audio work to the full potential anyways. So it may put some people off who are happy working with headphones under £50 & feel they're getting as much quality as a pair of these Shure brands.

I will say this however, these aren't the absolute best of the best & i did notice these favour the warm tone ever so slightly but that's a matter of audio ear perspective depending on what sort of audio work you do. It could be that I may have to adjust some settings in the Rodecaster Pro possibly to eleviate this minor issue.

So for the Pros? Definitely worth buying for the piece of mind that these are from a brand that have a reputation for making good quality stuff like this. These are better than my Skullcandy Hesh headphones considerably. There's just a better detail in the audio when using these Shure headphones for all genres of music. There's clarity in the treble, with all-round balance in the bass & mids.

I'm sure there are better headphones than these out there but then you're spending possibly £50 - £100 more & that's just for the purist audiophiles out there. And honestly? I don't recommend other people going out of their way to burn that kind of money unless you have deep pockets. You don't need to buy expensive headphones to get the best quality. Obviously do your research, read the reveiws carefully & then make up your own mind.

Again, it comes down to investment in whatever audio work you do & these are very good for that. I've enjoyed using them & so has my co-host. These aren't regular everyday headphones because they're built specifically for studio use only considering the construction of it.

"The mid of" traditionally good for dynamic emitters, but still sometimes felt a kind of "detachment" sound, particularly on vocals. Bass soft, springy, pleasant and very powerful, vibrant, but not the subwoofer, delicate, crisp, fast and structured even compressed compositions. In general, such a "weight distribution" frequency gives great head, drive, but at the same time the sound is not lost in the fusion and harmony. The sound is embellished, but within the allowed: record mixed by data headphones probably will not sound much indistinguishable from "live" sound.
Ear cups are dense, but soft, provide excellent sound insulation, sufficient, perhaps even for the Moscow metro, the more so because of its low resistance and good sensitivity headphones good "swing" and portable players.
The stereo at "Shure" average width of monitor headphones with good localization "of imaginary sound sources." In order to achieve the required involvement in listening to music, in my opinion, from the "Monitor" requires a larger volume of sound
Very noticeable sibilance and compression artifacts, which, on the one hand, good for studio use headphones, but on the other - not very useful to listen to music in your library when there are recording is not very good quality.
Sound. This bright headphones, and they perfectly reproduce the medium and treble. If you want to listen to some black-metal - you obviously do not need it, but, for example, power-metal sounds amazing in them.

Advantages:

When nothing is playing is created (not the most pleasant) feeling of vacuum, but in a closed type of headphones is the norm.
In conjunction with Focusrite 2i2 card is fully open the sound range for the entire frequency spectrum.
In the first few days of listening corrected mistake in the project.
The set comes a twisted cord and detachable pouch for the headphones (nice addition).
But I repeat - the sound quality is perfectly realized.
No boomy bass. Sounds heard all at a glance.
Honest monitor sound, correct the frequency response, with no apparent peaks. Thus not only suitable for the studio, but also for home use.
Volume, "natural" sound.
Excellent frequency balance! Excellent sound insulation.

Disadvantages:

Twisted cable and an amateur. Pulls uncomfortable recorded ...
Brittle. Very fragile. They are designed for stationary use, and preferably do not carry them, and if you are still and are willing to walk with them down the street - forget about it.
Ergonomics - landing on his head, and the weight - could be better.
By the weight of the headphones and their landing on the head I have to get used to for a long time, but after a couple of weeks of use, this disadvantage is not observed.

This headphones are directly competitors for the 5-40000 Hz ones! The build quality of abs plastic mass and the drivers are actually as good as posible can be! For a recording studio guy are just almost as good as any pair of super high end Beyerdynamic! They do play in the big league! I will definently use them in the same measure as my Beyerdynamic DT1770! This guys from this companies are not kidding with these products! This are real professional gear and it is telling you this my own person, because i have total musician hearing...The real deal ones.

Neutral-towards-slightly-warm sounding closed over'ears that isolate outside sound passively well. Really good performers overall, particularly with edm/rock. They lack a bit on the soundstage side but you get open/semi-open cans for that.
