Great for thinner semis

I previously gave this case 5 stars but this is prior to noticing a very bad flaw in the design. I have to echo Grocer Jack, 22.08.2017 review in that the back of the ES-335 headstock is lying on the floor of the case making contact with the rear wall of the case (if it is lying flat on ground and lid open I mean). This means in fact that if the case falls the ES-335 will get shock transfer to the crucial headstock/neck join area where Gibsons are known to crack if they receive a knock. I know, 'cause I received a 2012 Cherry Dot from UK in post in it's case and when I opened it the neck had snapped in two here. In an original Gibson case for example you have room to place your finger between the floor of the case and the bottom of the case, so the headstock is not in contact with the bottom of the case. In this SKB one your headstock will be lying on the floor, nt a good situation. I just checked my SKB case for my flying V and it is the bloody same!!! What the hell are SKB at????????? I can only use either case for storing the case at home and cannot use them for transport in band vans etc. I would definately never fly with this in a cargo hold, no way......... accident waiting to happen. What the hell are SKB thinking, did they ever actually put an ES-335 into one of these or a V in the other? If they had they would immediately see their design flaw!

Warning: head break imminent
Grocer Jack 22.08.2017
On placing my Gibson ES-335 in the case for the first time, I was alarmed to discover the neck stirrups were cut way too low, leaving the upper edge of the headstock in contact with the back of the case and unsupported. Firebirditis in prospect! If you have an Epiphone semi with the longer headstock, be prepared for a repair bill.
For a manufacturer to boast 'Superior Design' and fail to address this fundamental issue is woeful. It's a fairly easy fix; a 1" wedge of foam plastic or similar inserted into the routs, that will squash down when the lid is closed should lift the neck sufficiently, but it's a bodge that should not be necessary.
My case came with an inspection ticket dated February 2016. It's possible that SKB have implemented improvements since then, as I can't believe I'm the only customer to point out this flaw. If not, then this is an issue that needs addressing quickly.
Otherwise, the case is quite sturdy albeit made of plastic, with a plush interior lining, and is reasonable value for money. Thomann's service is at its usual high standard, my order arriving in the UK in just 3 working days.

Protect your ES-335
seco 20.05.2015
I recently bought a new Gibson Memphis ES-335. Very nice guitar and it came with it's own case, which was great too with it's plush interior. But... there's no way I wanted that Gibson case to get scuffed and bashed about when travelling and gigging. All my other guitars have snug-fit hard moulded cases which I much prefer over tweed-type cases, for example, when out and about.

This SKB case is just what I wanted. Let me first say that this case has got a GREAT handle! Nice and big that fills your hand - no thin handle that cuts into your palm like other cases. Five very good chunky TSA latches too. My old Epiphone Dot 335 fits in the case also.

PT
Works well for my Fret-King Elise Black Label
PE Toulouse 28.01.2020
Lovely case, great quality. I like the locks. I bought it for my Fret-King Elise, a guitar between Gibson 339 and 335. I was aware that I would need to adapt the volume a bit. I have put a small cloth into the first neck rest, to avoid the guitar's headstock touching the case bottom. A small towel (3 layers) to get the upper body a bit higher. And a medium towel at the bottom - as the Elise is shorter than a 335. Good solution, I am happy.
