Steinberg CC121
Peter E. 663, 24.10.2013
I've been a user of Cubase since around 1999-2000 and I love it. But the thing with using Cubase, or any DAW I guess (only actually used Cubase and ProTools but they're all similar in this way) is that after a while, just using a mouse and a keyboard is not ultimate. I used Cubase for about 11 years without an actual controller, but when I got the CC121 it was just, wow!

It's completely integrated with Cubase (right now I use Cubase 6.5) and works flawlessly with it. It is simply SO good to be able to have an actual fader, and buttons for all the funtions for every track such as mute/solo, read/write, arming and the rest, plus for the EQ section just as it is laid up in Cubase.
Then we have the transport section and it's worth buying it only for having those. Then there's also 4 programmable function buttons that can be used for any favourite function within Cubase, all of this is set within in Cubase. And then last but not least, the AI knob, that can be used as a jog type of wheel or to be locked to a certain parameter in for example a VSTi and while doing something else you can still adjust that parameter without having that window open which is pretty handy.

It's made of metal with plastic buttons and all the touch buttons are lit up by LED's and I think quality-wise, it's really good. I've been using mine for a bit more than 2 years and I just love it and it makes my work in Cubase so much faster and easier. Is there things that can be better or more features included, sure most things can, but I can't really come up with something that I would like to change or something that annoys me. Well, maybe something like this but with 8 faders for controlling 8 channels at one time, but it won't be as small and easily placed on pretty much any desk as this one is. In the end it's just a solid investment (and not very rough on your wallet) for any Cubase user.

Hesitated for a long time, But IT WAS Worth it.
BxGardiner, 03.06.2020
Bought this for my professional mix room.

Fader feels great, Knobs are great. I was worried about the knobs for EQ but I am very pleased with them.

Unlike other controllers I have used, where you are constantly having to think about what you are doing, Once you start using this it becomes seamless and invisible.

The downside is that it is Cubase only, BUT, it works so well that it is worth the price and restriction.

Oh, it's build like a tank.

When it lights up it brings a smile to your face

Bought this to work with Cuebase 8.5 and Wavelab Pro 9.

Pros: Works like a dream, very easy to use and makes navigation very easy indeed, saving a lot of time.It takes up very little space. It is surprisingly heavy, very solid and well built. This will be a permanent piece of kit on my desk. You can also set the touch sensitivity of the selector buttons which is nice. Lights are same colour as cuebase and this delivers a confident air of interactive hardware design with the software and it is fun to use.

Jog and shuttle are excellent with a professional ratchet feel to scrolling. EQ controls work really well.

Cons: Set up was a test as a setup update page delivered with the manual was instructing to ignore the manual instructions and go on line to download drivers. Finding the correct download was problematic and switching between the internet manual, update sheet and CD ROM was confusing. However, on finally completing the set up it is a great little machine with a lot of nice features and it is very responsive.

It would have been helpful to include the test instructions to indicate if the machine was configured properly after download. I found this by accident searching the internet.

Also If a roller ball mouse was integrated on the machine that would be the icing on the cake!

Overall, while this is an expensive piece of equipment, if you do a lot of editing, it is more than a studio toy, it does increase workflow efficiency and in my opinion it is worth it.

Nice one Steinberg!

The ideal controller to work with cubase in your home studio. Was made for that purpose.

Have nothing at this point to say against it. It's simple, practical, affordable i suppose, when you look other options. Very easy to instal, nothing worng happened.

Helps a lot when you work intensively, Because it allows you to make the necessary adjustments quickly and efficiently.
And during mixing, saving time and being precise is fundamental, in order to achieve the intended purposes.
So, after long time, After long search and prospection over all hypotheses, there were many possibilities, however, the cheap options had some or rather inaccurate gaps perhaps. There are also very expensive options, which may be excellent options, I suppose I will not know in the years to come.

Within this price, without a doubt was the best decision. In terms of demand, it was at thomann that I also got the best price for this new product.
