Superlux E205

First off, I am a Mic-aholic - secondly, I am a voiceover artist and produce radio adverts. I have a cupboard full of mics including Neumann, Rode, SE, Oktarva, Audio Technica, Sontronic, Sennheiser and more! I came across the Superlux S241 a few years ago and was very impressed with it for Acoustic Guitar it's still my go-to mic for micing guitars, so I thought I would give the superlux E205 a try especially at only £31.00 -once again Superlux has blown me away, it sounds fabulous and is dead quiet, even compared to a Rodes NT2a which is a very quiet mic indeed - and dare I say it, it has a nicer fuller sound than the Rode and doesn't have that U87Ai honk. one thing I will say is it is a little bit suspectable to the proximity effect, so keep back a little more than you normally would,
add a fraction of top EQ and you have one killer of a mic I would say it sounds similar to the Audio Technica 4033a.

Excellent mic not just for price but for its diversity as well. I've used it on several instruments but the best results it gave me were for the vocals and acoustic guitars. I cant believe how well rounded and warm sound it has. Especially on, both male and female vox, I barely had to do any surgical or harsh EQ. Purchased this for the second time. Gifted the first one to my vocalist friend.
Comes with a leather pouch which is always nice to have. Superlux wins every time.
Needless to say, Thomann's service is top notch.

Cons: The mount is terrible. I would much rather they'd given a shock mount option than this plastic ring which broke on my first mic.

I bought this microphone for my home studio. I'm on a tight budget so I couldn't spend much besides, music is my hobby, not my profession so I do not need expensive gear. Anyway, after reading positive reviews both on Thomann's site and on other pages I decided to order this Superlux E205 microphone. I haven't tried it with any acoustic Instruments or with amplifiers, I have only recorded vocals with it. The result is more than satisfying. It is a very sensitive mic with a very good sound quality. After adding a bit of eq, recorded vocals sound wonderful. I certainly am very very happy with this microphone and suggest it to anyone on a tight budget for vocal recording.

A great microphone for the price, and has great clarity. I find it lacks in higher frequencies, but works well for a male vocalist. Has a wide pickup range, so I usually use them as boundary microphones, however also very useful at close range. I have a set of 5, and some of the XLR connectors on the microphones are a bit stiff, and the screw-fitting on the underside that holds the microphone together comes loose with regular use, however is easily fixable. I am disappointment with the included microphone mounts, as several I've had are too stiff for hand tightening. I recommend getting their associated shock mounts instead of the included fittings, however a file and a bit of elbow grease can solve the issue easily.

Overall, great audio quality, but the hardware leaves a little to be desired. The front LED is a very nice touch.

I use this mic for a home studio environment. My apartment is near a busy street, which made me worried on how ambient sounds sources would interfere, but it turned out to be a non issue with this mic.

The E205 sounds crisp and precise, and has a very good frequency response curve, which is on par and perhaps even better than many more expensive microphones.

My only other reference is Shure SM58, which granted has a different purpose, but in comparison, the E205 sounds just so much better - its insane.
