Positive surprise

Since I worked not only in the optimized studios, but also before a Minimalsetup, I looked for a few monitors for limited space (12-15qm), small price and still usable (objective) sound. And lo and behold, the Swissonic ASM7 are exactly what I was looking for.
In the studio, I use the Adam A77X, and of course you can not compare it; But undoubtedly the ears are tuned to a certain sonic standard and do not want to be impregnated with wannabe hifi mud, even under suboptimal conditions.

First, the ASM7 offer enough bass, even Prodigy classics come here to their right. That does not wiggle the cellar, one must be clear with this size. Even dense rock and metal productions make the basslines of the drums still prominent - and nothing is booming or muddled. This also applies to productions from 3 different decades.
The heights are good, not super finely resolved, ok, not harsh, beautiful, and one has still the regulator on the back for small adjustments.

The boxes can get quite loud, but it is less their profession, they lose their balance, somehow compressed; Here the low price is directly noticeable - their best moments they have at room volume and especially in quieter operation. Also here, the bass comes very nicely through and the mids seem to have just the right relationship.

If one compares different productions, then the qualitative differences are clear: Overcompressed does not sound, you hear immediately, something is wrong, it annoys, and good productions with neat transients and dynamics play out their qualities.

The depth staggering is however not particularly pronounced, rather flat, but as already mentioned at the beginning, in this class one can not expect anything. But you should keep that in mind.

The workmanship is very good.

Conclusion: In this price class one must be clear to have to squeeze. Nevertheless, these are by no means as great as they are feared if one moves in moderate and especially in low volume. At this price (pair price!) One receives decent work means, on which also the by-passing listening fun. Recommendation for anyone looking for a pair of decent monitors for under 300 euros.
