Recording made simple

The Swissonic Audio 2 is a "two-in/two-out" audio interface with XLR/jack combo socket inputs that can accommodate microphone, instrument, and line-level signals, and both inputs additionally feature switchable phantom power to allow the interface to be used with condenser microphones. Each channel has a Hi-Z switch to allow the input sensitivity to be adjusted for instrument signals as well as a gain control and peak LED indicator to allow the input level to be correctly adjusted. The front panel also features controls for adjusting the main output volume and the ratio of monitoring signal to DAW playback, and a 6.3mm headphone output with its own volume control is provided for monitoring via headphones. The rear panel in turn features two 6.3mm line outputs for monitor speakers as well as a 3.5mm input for connecting a smartphone or tablet computer.

Studio-quality sound

The Swissonic Audio 2 has a sample rate of 192kHz and a 24-bit dynamic resolution and will deliver studio-quality sound. It can be connected to a computer or laptop via the USB-B port on the rear of the interface (this requires USB version 2.0) and is compatible with PCs running Windows 7 or newer (32 and 64-bit systems are both suitable), and Mac computers running macOS 10.7 or newer. The Swissonic Audio 2 is USB powered and therefore does not require a separate power adapter. A suitable USB cable is of course included in the scope of delivery, however.

For beginners on a budget

The Swissonic Audio 2 gives beginners all the connections they need as they take their first steps into the world of recording. And since this interface is primarily aimed at beginners, it has been designed to provide maximum ease of use (and avoid the risk of confusion). The Audio 2 is thus ideal for users setting up their first home studio on a limited budget, who can then simultaneously record two instruments, two microphone signals, or a combination of the two (the latter of which will also make this an interesting solution for singer-songwriters who want to record guitar and vocals simultaneously and use their DAW to edit the recordings). Those who are looking for an interface for recording basic interview scenarios or gaming audio with commentary, on the other hand, should perhaps take a look at the Swissonic Audio 1 interface (article no. 541119), which also includes a loopback function.

About Swissonic

Launched in 1998, Swissonic is an in-house brand operated by Thomann. Swissonic's range of electronic and digital devices are built to precise specifications by well-known manufacturers and are thus available at very favourable prices via direct marketing without distributors. Swissonic mainly focuses on devices for use in conjunction with a computer. The product range therefore includes interfaces, webcams, monitoring speakers, MIDI keyboards, and routers but also sound converters and rack-mounted electronic equipment. Swissonic thus provides an extensive wide range of affordable equipment for computer and home studio-based sound processing.

For basic music demos and budding podcasters

When a singer-songwriter wants to make a recording, all they need to do is connect a condenser microphone to input one on the Swissonic Audio 2 and then switch on the phantom power, then plug their electroacoustic guitar into channel two and activate the Hi-Z function, and they are ready to go. To record an interview with two participants, on the other hand, the user should simply connect a microphone to each of the inputs and can then easily mix the sound in their DAW (this also makes the interface a good choice for budding podcasters). To play music from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop computer - or to connect an interview partner via telephone - the user can simply connect the relevant device's audio output to the 3.5mm mini-jack input on the interface's rear panel.

Perfect for my use.

Ideal for a beginner.

This is my first Interface and it does everything I need it to, I use an analog mixer plugged into this in stereo for my drums and a y jack from the amp for guitars. Mics go straight into it also. Handles well and perfect for learning the ropes.

Overall great little machine.

I can't use it in this way. I reinstalled the drivers but nothing happened.

A
Great budget audio interface
Anonymous299€ 07.08.2023
I bought this a while ago and I can, say that I'm impressed. Apart from that wrong phantom power switch position in the manual all has been working completely fine and I've had no issues. Noise is manageable, audio quality is just right!

L
No drivers
LolyP00P 29.03.2024
this is my first audio interface and I didn't know that you need drivers to use it, I can't find drivers for this specific product and I can't reduce the latency without decreasing the quality of the sound, the latency makes me unable record and listen to what I play at the same time. Other than that it does it's job.
