Oh just buy it...

As many of us do when we are spending silly money on either out first or forty first guitar, I Read every review about Taylor's good and bad bits and how some are better than others.
I did look at the 312, 812 and the very fancy 912 in local shops. This 512 was only available online. It's price Vs specifications I felt was justifiable and as thomann have a good return policy sure why not try it.
It is not my first 12 fret but I'm my many years of playing I can honestly say I am very impressed with this little gem both visually and tonally... Everyone has a different view on what's tonally perfect and no two ears hear the same. Bearing that in mind I think if you know what you are looking for in a 12 fret guitar and you are not looking for a big hard hitting dread you will be very happy. Yes the 8 and 9 series I played are beautiful but not an extra 3 to 4000 euro beautiful...Tonally or visually. This 512 really stands out for me at it's 2300 price. Yes it's still expensive but you weren't looking at Taylor for cheap guitar options!
For this guitar ... I'm a Very happy chappy. Just buy it 🙂

One of My Absolute Favorites – Fingerstyle Heaven

The Taylor 512ce 12-Fret has quickly become one of my favorite guitars in my collection. It’s incredibly responsive, with a tone that’s rich, warm, and articulate—perfect for fingerstyle playing. What really surprised me is how loud and full it sounds despite the compact body and 12-fret design. It has a sweetness and balance that really shines, especially in alternate tunings and subtle dynamics.

The playability is typical Taylor—effortless. The shorter scale and slotted headstock give it a unique feel and vibe, and the build quality is flawless. Whether you’re recording or just playing for yourself, this guitar inspires you to keep going.

Un superbe instrument

Je voulais acquérir une guitare électro acoustique à pan coupé cordage acier et j'ai longuement hésité entre une gibson, Taylor, Takamine ou Martin. La décision n'a pas été facile . J'ai hésité longuement et mon choix s'est portée sur la Taylor 512 ce 12 fret Urban ironbark. Je joue avec depuis deux semaines ; je suis comblé.
Cette guitare est magnifique d'une finition irréprochable. Elle est rehaussée d'abalone sur la rosace et de nacre pour les repaires de touche.
Les filets soulignent de manière élégante la forme et le niveau de finition est très élevé.
Elle est très tonique sur toutes les cordes et un sustain d'enfer. La finesse du manche apporte un confort et une précision de jeux excellent.
Lorsqu'elle est raccordée à un ampli, elle finit de vous convaincre. La disposition des micros sous le chevalet arrière est une belle trouvaille. C'est très efficace.
Le choix des bois de caisse avec l'Urban Ironbark ( variété d'eucalyptus) est peut-être surprenant mais déjà par son aspect le rendu est à se méprendre avec le palissandre et le son qu'il restitue est puissant et chaleureux. Pas de regret d'avoir exploré cette nouvelle voie.
Comparée à la concurrence, elle est très bien placée. Je ne lui trouve pas de défaut. Je suis comblé. Il est vrai que lorsque l'on investit 3400 € on est en droit d'avoir un produit irréprochables et c'est le cas.

Wunderbare kleine Gitarre für Fingerstyle-Guitar

Zunächst möchte ich Thomann einen Dank aussprechen, dass es möglich war, diese Taylor 512ce 12-Fret Urban Ironbark Grand Concert Model am Black Friday so günstig anbieten zu können.
Die kleine Taylor ist perfekt verarbeitet, lässt sich leicht spielen und hat für Fingerstyle-Music den richtigen Sound.
Den Micarta Steg habe ich gegen einen Knochen Steg von Taylor ausgetauscht.
Der Slotted-Head mit den Tunern wirkt sehr hochwertig,
ebenso wie die Hochglanzlackierung am Boden, Decke und Zargen.
Das Holz Urban-Ironbark erweist sich als ähnlich hart wie Palisander, hat aber auch etwas exotisches an sich.
Für einen kräftigeren Basston spiele ich mit Daumenpick.
Auf offenen Stimmungen wie DADGAD erweist sich die Taylor 512ce als tonal ausgeglichen und obertonreich.
Für Strumming und harte Anschläge würde ich größere Modelle bevorzugen.
Fazit: Die Taylor 512ce 12-Fret Urban Ironbark ist für mich die perfekte Gitarre, für alles, was ich mit Fingern spielen möchte.
Durch den 12-Fret Ansatz hat man von der Mensur her sogar das Gefühl, eine Konzertgitarre zu spielen.
