Colossal wallop...
Paul8308, 22.02.2015
...this is indeed a mighty thing! This head just puts out gobs of power - I run a Barefaced Big Twin - not the most efficient cab in the known cosmos - the Blacksmith drives it with ease - I am happy that I will never need more power than this head puts out - if I did - I would be going through FOH.

As usual - we must take TC's infamous power output claims with a pinch of salt (pinch? - handfull more like) but to be fair - this has watts in abundance - I beleive the continuous RMS output of this head into 4r is around 975 watts? - I may be wrong?

The three presets are brilliant - easy to use and truly usefull - get the footswitch with it to get the most use from these natch!

The compression and overdrive (tubedrive) Well - the comp I dont like I am afraid - it feels a bit too severe even on low settings - but it may suit you? The drive is pretty good and certainly gives me more than enough grit.

The eq section is comprehensive and does everything I need - as its semi-parametric I have had no problem taming rooms when the odd frequency is giving me problems.

The build quality (apart from one area) is fabulous - it really is well put together - everything that is - apart from the knobs - which are cheap plastic affairs - which fall off. To be fair - TC sent me a new set without hesitation - its a shame though that on an item like this a corner has been cut that wouldnt have cost a great deal? I have considered replacing the nobs with metal ones. Also - I am slightly nervous that the pot shafts themselves are plastic - I would have thought metal would have been the way to go? - this aint a toy after all? All that aside - it is a Lovely Thing that - I feel - will probably out-last me!

All the switch's have a good feel to them.

The amp also looks the nuts - there is a row of tiny leds around the control knobs which change depending on the travel of the knob - uber cool.

The 'sound' of the head - what can I say - it IS different to the Ashdowns/Ampegs/Laneys etc etc I have used over the years - but to be frank - its so subjective - safe to say it is pretty balanced through the tone range with cracking definition.

Ultimately tho - I am just confident that whatever the band/venue/music - I am gonna be able to walk all over the guitarists and drummer (this also has a fair bit to do with the Big Twin of course) the sound is never wheezy or compressed at high levels - it just gets louder and louder - no issues.

I would not need anything more powerful - although I have actually bought a TC BH800 to go with a smaller cab for small venues and rehearsals!

Get to gig - set up - and forget all about the amp - just play and have fun - what could be better.

All the best!

Tommo

Horny amp.
Marc1575, 25.12.2013
The amp weighs almost nothing, it has much too much (geil! :-) power and is by the electronic sound manipulation extremely diverse.

None of the sounds is really bad, whether it's passive or active bass. I play the combi from 2x12 "and two pieces 2x10" - and that goes very off, more than 11 am I have so far no one suspects. I recommend a case for the amp.

And at the price you should pay attention that the "to sway" seems - I have paid just 1k euro, currently the course seems to have risen again.

But anyway, he remains a real recommendation.
