I use this for metal guitar. I run it through the loop with my Digitech GSP1101 and then into this TC D2 and then into the sonic max. I was a bit concerned about the balanced line factor because all the lines are balanced and it doesn't really say much about unbalanced, so I was hoping it would work without having to wire special lines for a required pattern. The manual does show the pin configuration but it still took the signal with no problem with unbalanced lines through my amp's loop. All I can say is "What a beautiful delay"!
The delays are so nice I am buying another one to use instead of the delays within the GSP1101s. And unlike many modern rack delays this has a knob to adjust mili seconds if you don't wish to use the tap tempo. Some reviews I have read state that the delays in this are much better than the delay within the G-major. I've never used one so I can't say, but this is the best delay I have ever owned. I used to own some Roland SDE 1000s,2000s,3000s back in the day. And I have a Korg SDD1000. This TC D2 unit has that extreme quality but with todays technologies. I just use it for guitar delays. This unit is probably too much machine for me considering what it can do. Other reviews have said that this unit is kind of flemsy and the rack ears break off easy. "?" I really don't see how if you take the screws and washers and put it in your rack. I think the rack ears are very sturdy. The buttons on the face do seem a little light but TC has always had fragile looking hardware. Not a problem for me... I take care of my stuff. This is a keeper. If TC discontinues this, I bet it will be highly sought after. If it breaks down or gets stolen I will want another one! For guitar I seriously recommend it for the money. Doesn't color the sound of my amp at all through the loop. Im using a Fender 5150 III.

Worthy successor to the 2290
Steve Merlin, 12.03.2019
This one took some time to figure out, as the manual isn't too well written, but this unit ended up between my Yamaha Motif XF and the audio interface. It's that clean, and the bypass is true. I love the dynamic delays, which to an adjustable amount leave your main sound alone and pop up when you want some echoes. The rhythmic delays are very nice, and I like it a lot that this unit takes up half the space compared to the old 2290. The big coloured display is another helpful addition.

As others mentioned above, the 50 presets turned out mostly useless, but they give an excellent overview of the unit's capabilities, and you do get 100 user slots to program your own stuff.

Take 5 minutes for the manual, start with a preset you like, try to modify every parameter you can find (for that, press 'edit' and doubleclick one of the six delay option buttons) and save your edit to an empty user slot. For an 'undo', use the 'bypass' button - couldn't find that in the manual.
