Top quality FX in a simple to use and professional package
Chaz73, 29.05.2017
Well I've waited 6 months before posting this review so I've had plenty of time to play around with this unit. The TC M350 is basically a dual FX unit that can run in parallel or serial modes I'll get the negatives out of the way first - In dual input mode the output of both inputs is mixed. There is no control over L/R balance. Secondly, most of the effects are mono - so the chorus and tremolo are mono which is an oversight. Thirdly, I was unable to use this as an external plugin effect with Logic or Live. I could not get the M350 to sync to Digital clock. However, I am using the SPDIF out to bring the effects into Logic from my desk through the digital input of my audio interface - which is very useful as I can record any FX on separate tracks. Finally, not a big deal but why is there no On/Off switch?

Now the good stuff. Easy to use and every control on the front panel can be controlled using standard CC numbers. There is no need for an editor although I made one for my iPad. Reverbs sound rich and natural. Long delay times, tap tempo or Midi Clock and the feedback is very 'playable' with excellent control of regeneration. Phasers and chorus are very usable and not to over the top. Build quality is first class - built in PSU, balanced ins and outs, neat rack handles.

Final word - nothing as good as this for the money.

Great Sounds, But...
22.10.2016
The reverbs sound fantastic - all the classic TC sounds are there, with just enough tweakability that you can throw them on a track without spending too much time on it and know it'll sound great.

The other effects are good, though I don't use them as much. The compressors are useful, the choruses are lush, the delays are solid.

Inputs and outputs are good but not perfect - I'd love to be able to use the two effects engines separately, but it's not a huge deal. The routing options are a bit weird too.

I use this on the SPDIF outs/ins on my soundcard, so it's right there when I need it, and I can use it during tracking without adding latency (great for snare/kick compression). For this kind of money, you can't barely buy a couple of couples, so to get a bunch of studio quality reverbs AND modulation/delay is great value.

As you'd expect with TC gear, it's really well built. However, they say in the gumpf "there's no power button because it saves money" - which is fair enough, except that mine blew up after 18 months when I switched it off at the wall. Hopefully it's just a one-off though.

The multi-FX concept has been around in various forms since the mid 80s - It is therefore no surprise that there is a huge range of hardware available.
