Basstastic!!!
Woodwork Barn 28.08.2017
As always with Thomann, the order arrived in under a week and really well packaged.

I know this speaker was not intended for this purpose but I built a 1936 style cabinet with a deeper body than normal and fitted this speaker in it. The custom cab was mostly to be used for playing my P bass through but occasionally for playing rhythm guitar as well. For the price of the speaker I wasn't expecting a miracle, however......

The first shock is the phenomenal amount of power this speaker can blast out without distorting. The bigger shock is how well it THUMPS out the low frequency notes from my bass with ease but also plays so clearly/cleanly with a rhythm through it. I can't say how well it would perform with really sharp crisp highs as a lead guitar speaker as I don't play like this, but for rhythm and bass guitars it will absolutely blow your socks off!
The chassis is rock solid and general build quality is excellent, the wiring was incredibly easy with the spring clip connections. I cannot fault this speaker in any way at all, for the price it's unbelievable.

Well recommended, I am one very happy guitarist :)

(Update 1 month after fitting the speaker)
I am more and more seriously impressed with this speaker the more I use it. Sure the P bass sounds great through it, but what's shocking me more is the savage beefy growl I can get from my home made Jaguar. Played through a Marshall MG100HDFX, the frequency range of the speaker (both low and surprisingly high) seems to far exceed what is advertised by the manufacturer. I tend to think that due to the size of the speaker, when I hit the overdrive it has the ability to make my guitar sound like a LION ON STEROIDS!!! Absolutely love it!

(Update 5 years after fitting the speakers)
These speakers are still going strong after 5 years of abuse and sound as good as the day I fitted them, so no problem with longevity either! Amazing!!!

Unbeatable General Purpose Bass Speaker
Howard 17.06.2018
I bought a couple of these to replace some very old blown drivers in my 1x15 ported bass guitar cabs. Although the specification does not immediately suggest that they would be suitable in this role, they are surprisingly effective. They lack a little of the top end bite of the Celestions they replaced, but a tweak on the amp's graphic easily compensates.
Good points: well made, aluminium chassis, absolutely standard size and mounting hole locations. Good spl and very little distortion.
Bad points: nothing bad, just slightly lacking in a bit of bite higher up the range - 1khz upwards - hardly noticeable to be fair. Definitely recommended as a general purpose bass or bass guitar speaker.

Strong and delicate !

Pro- Used in a 2-way enclosure with 3000 Hz cutting filter. The singer and the whole orchestra are with me in the living room, divine.
Cons- Subwoofer required if you listen to octobass.

A great replacement speaker for a fantastic price

I have a pair of the box PA 252 cabs (which I believe have two of these in them), so when I was given a pair of 1x15" cabs with no drivers these were the obvious choice to get them up and running. The installation went smoothly, I was pleased to find that they have sprung terminals... which I think in the long-run will be far more reliable than re-using the original crimp connectors from the cabs crossover.

Now using them for rehearsals with a 6 piece band and easily handling vocals, keys, kick & snare. They sound and handle so well... it's amazing to think that it's a sub £100 rig.

The only complaint I have about these is the packaging... although the box is very sturdy, the silica gel sachets have been stapled to the inside of the box and all of them ripped open in transit. So even though they've been separated from the speaker (which is sealed in a thick plastic bag), the silica balls went everywhere when the boxes where opened... kept finding them rolling about my kitchen for weeks.
