Por el precio de un MPC X, incluían esta base.
Nunca se me habría ocurrido comprarla por separado, pero, ahora que la tengo veo ciertas utilidades que pueden ser de interés.
La base es 1 ó 2 cm más grande que el MPC por la parte delantera y trasera y prácticamente igual en laterales.

La tengo puesta sobre la mesa, con el MPC encima. Esta mesa no es muy grande, por lo que le da estabilidad al MPC, sin él, las patas estarían muy cerca del borde, pudiendo moverse al golpear los pads.
Lo uso también de bandeja, si estoy en el sofá añade esa estabilidad que da no trabajar directamente sobre las piernas.
Otra utilidad es que si la mesa no es plana perfecta (mesas de jardín, mesas de piedra, o mesas modulares) con este dispositivo evitas los incómodos balanceos, teniendo que calzar el aparato con cartón o tela.
