Great value for money

The cajon is easy to make, although having some woodworking experience is recommended. With some effort you can create a very nice cajon on a small budget.
The snare sound was too dim to my taste, only audible when you hit the centre of the drum.
I've created a new snare using old guitar strings. I drilled a series of 16 tiny holes into a strip of wood and then pulled both ends of half a string length through 2 adjacent holes and did this with all 4 wound strings of an acoustic guitar, making a snare of 16 wires. I've installed this instead of the original snare and it's sounds great.

interesting to put it together but the snare is not adjustable, something easily adapted from you tube though. not a very deep tone and not a whole lot of tonal variations but okay for the size.
the corner joints were a littl of and there is a bit of sanding required to get them sitting right.
its a good addition to a home studio both as a seat and having close to hand for working out beats, i still don't understand though why a big lump of chipboard is shipped with the product, surely there are better and more enviro friendly ways of protecting the parts?

It was an easy build but I don't think these things sound like drums. My friend says it sounds as good as the one he bought from the music store.
