5 star pack
Gunthi, 01.04.2018
This is , without doubt, one of the best expansion packs of Toontrack.
Fantastic sound, clear and powerfull.
Enough Kits to keep you creativly busy for a long time.
If you're having dificulty choosing an expansion pack to buy, i recommend the Progressive because the quality of the sound is trully impressive.

It is heavy!
29.12.2015
I have a dozen EZX for my EZDrummer2 Of all, it is this bank the heaviest in terms of samples, and therefore, loading, but also sound!
The different pre-sets are really well done.
It sounds very easy in many contexts and not just the progressive as the name of this EZX might suggest. The quantity of samples proposed makes it possible to have a striking realism and the round-robin that draws lightly in this profusion obviously participates in this realism. But the pre-sets consist mainly of the mixing console and effects that Toontrack pasted there. As with all other EZXs, the effects are not chosen. These are imposed, and their settings are limited to what Toontrack has decided to let us settle, which may sound strange, frustrating, and pass for nonsense, but in reality in this EZX as in most Those that I already have, they are well thought out and integrated to bring just what it takes. Moreover, two solutions are always available to the user.
1) It is always possible to route each slice of the EZDrummer console to a separate track of the host STAN mixer (in my case, Cubase Pro 8). From there, it is then possible to add the VST effects of our choice.
2) Each EZX always proposes a basic pre-set called "Original Mix" without effect, and comprising only the "balance" of the different elements of the kit. Combined with the first possibility, it is therefore possible to treat the track-by-track battery in the STAN without any problem as it would with an acoustic jack.

Remains the only drawback of "EZX Progressive" which in my opinion is the loading time imposed by the size of this bank. I also owns Groove Agent 4 from Steinberg which is unfortunately the example of the worst possible loading times for virtual battery, and it must be noted that the 16GB of RAM of my machine do not manage to accelerate the movement nor for GA4, Nor for Progressive EZX. This is by far the longest EZX bank to load from all the ones I own.

Do not limit yourself to this small problem however, because the sound is worth the candle.
The MIDI sentences delivered with the bank is also extremely supplied and offers in particular an impressive quantity of fills of all styles. The Intros, Verses, Pre Verses, Choruses, and Bridges all contain on average 5 variations. The Fills, on the other hand, have an average of 30. All in 4 groups: Camo 71 BPM, Pushy 120 BPM, Nomad 140 BPM and Double Punk 160 BPM. Obviously, there is no need to stay on the specified BPMs, and using patterns from the last group in 60BPM titles is no problem.
It is obviously not the EZX which proposes the most important amount of patterns. But this remains very complete m ^ m if we regret the absence of ternary patterns typified shuffle or 16th shuffle, nor of patterns planned to turn on composite measurements more or less complex. No 3/4, 5/4, or 7/8, and even less 21/16 or 7/8 that one can expect to find in the musical styles claiming the "progressive" image. It will therefore have to start from what the bank proposes, and then publish it via the STAN.
