Don't combine the different uses
Busac, 27.01.2018
This is a peculiar little product because it does multiple functions in one box. It can work as a DI, load box, attenuator, has a DI amp out. Also includes the Wall of Sound plugin which is probably the best impulse response loader out there.

My only advice is to make use of one function at a time. As an attenuator it works perfect, and same as a reamp box. But once I tried using all these features at the same time (guitar was first recorded DI with the RELOAD, then reamped to amp head, then back to RELOAD as a load box and recorded amp DI and used Wall of Sound for speaker sim) it introduced a lot of noise. I tried the GRND LIFT switch but nothing seemed to help.

It needs to be said that as individual functions, they are amazing, just dont get too greedy with how you use it.

I was looking for a good power attenuator for use with my AC30 which I dime. I also needed an iso box to send my signal from the amp's speaker out to a rack with FXs since I use W/D/W setup. Reload does all of this nicely. This is a reactive load, so you get the same tone and feel of the amp when attenuated. It has a contour knob for a little extra tweak in sound and feel. You can go from mellow and scooped to a more midrange pronounced sound, turning the knob to the left and right. In the middle it's neutral. And it's 4-16 ohms selectable, whereas some other makers make products which are specifically ohm rated. If you have a lots of different amps and cabs with different resistance values, this can be very helpful.

I didn't need it for recording purposes, but since I've tried it, I record all of my guitars with the Reload. The advantage of recording a full blown Plexi in 3 a.m. with good IR's into my DAW is way cool and with carefully chosen IR's you get unbelievably great guitar tracks. No more catching the right sound moving your SM57 in a studio live room for a few millimeters, with your earplugs, while your amp is making 120dB's and the sound engineer is waving behind the glass in the control room telling you to stop right there, but you've already missed the sweet spot.

Overall, great attenuator, load box, iso box and guitar recording tool. Haven't messed with reamping yet, but I'm looking forward for trying it out. Highly recommended multi purpose device.

The most essential guitar tool for any home-studio recording
06.08.2014
Having already owned a Torpedo LIVE and C.A.B, I was finding it hard to re-amp DI guitar tracks. The DI's coming out from pro-tools into whatever amp or processor lacked the same character and sounded nowhere near the same as having a regular plugged straight in. So i purchased the RELOAD.

This has undoubtedly saved hours of studio time and is a life-saver for whatever guitarist or bassist you are recording. The ability to route a recorded DI-track from ProTools to the Reload, to an amplifier and back allows you to capture "the take" and not worry about what amp you have used, instead just re-patch it through a different amp and record it again, thanks to the Reload.

I have used this for my band's new album and it has taken so much pressure off me to get the perfect exact tone during the recording process, and has allowed me to focus more on the performance and worry about what tone to record it with at a later time.

If you are planning or are already recording DI tracks, you could not purchase a more valuable recording tool.

Great tone
Roman6517, 15.10.2015
Bought this unit to record my amplifier at home and it definetely does it's job.
The sound it very similar to real cabinet however it slightly lack some space or air which occurs when you're miking a real one. The difference is not huge and you can add the missing 'something' with reverb.
Also it would be great if the unit had a real di-box, which it actually has, but to split the signal you have to route it through your audio interface which adds some latency.
You can change the sound dramatically using different impedance outputs on your amp (make sure the impedadance switch on Torpedo matches it)
Generally it sounds very good and at last I can record my Dual Rectifier at 1:30 AM at home without provoking neighbours to call the cops.
