But Auto Release is wrong..
Alberto9475 29.07.2020
This Compressor it's relatively well built and sounds very good,
attack timings are correct, but the auto-release is based on the wrong schematic, so it doesn't behave like the original.
Also the gain reduction meter is not like shown in the pictures, instead it's the usual ugly Chinese meter with narrow scaling and poor ballistics.

I do like the addition of output transformers as they can be useful on some material.

Honestly though, Warm Audio should have done a better job, at least they should have known the correct auto-release schematics, and the fact they are showing a better looking meter on product pictures it's also a bit misleading.

Great SSL sound for the price
GuilB 26.12.2020
I use the Warm Audio Bus-Comp mainly in the master buss all the time, as well as in different busses (tried it on drums, orchestral, synths, guitars stems, etc).

Achieves a great sound, even using just the transformer (compression off) on a number of tracks, as it adds a subtle pleasant ear candy to the whole mix.

When adding the compression, the high pass sidechain works great in avoiding undesired excessive low end pump in low percussive sources. I usually set it up @ 105hz on mixes including drums.

I rate it with 4 stars in "characteristcs" because would be great having a dry/wet mix knob. Solved this by printing the wet stem and mixing that audio track later to taste anyway, but would be faster with a knob included in the hardware.

I strongly recommend this product for this value, very happy so far with it, as well as with other Warm audio products.

MR
Good choice for this value
Mile Ross 28.07.2020
At first i thought there was no difference between the software versions of the SSL comp, and the “Warm Audio bus comp” hardware version. But there is a lot of difference. The “Warm Audio bus comp” is based on an old SSL circuit on audio masters. To me, this is a piece of serious studio equipment. Now my master mix is upped from demo level to professional level.
For external side chain you will find out how work, amazing. Unfortunately i have only one KLARK EQP-KT tube equalizer and i work in mono mode, but in near future when KlARK EQP-KT will be available again, then i will reach mastering exactly how i dreamed.
I strongly recommend this product for this value.

SSL Bus Compressor Clone zum Anfassen ...
GPunkt 24.01.2021
