Competent workstation, excellent value.
RetroWill, 08.11.2019
I wanted a stand-alone keyboard / workstation that would also integrate well into a DAW setup. I have had this keyboard a few years now, and have been very happy with it forming the core of my modest home studio.

This was my first workstation keyboard, and it did take me a while to learn how to use it. There is an incredible amount it can do, and at first the menu system was not always intuitive because there is so much the keyboard can do. That said, the manuals are helpful, and there is excellent support on >
The selection of sounds is great – I can almost always find a sound that will do what I want, and its not difficult to fine tune the sound. The sounds are high quality and many of the acoustic sounds are very realistic and well programmed. The effects section is also easy to use and effective.

The feature set of the MOXF is huge, so there are many things that I haven’t needed to use. I have used the audio interface and it works well, though with a lower sensitivity dynamic mic (like an SM57) you often need almost all the gain. The “DAW remote” setting functions well with Cubase and I use the sequencer transport and EQ controls on the keyboard a lot. Again, I found the online support very helpful to understand how to set everything up with Cubase. I also use the on-board sequencer. It is a different experience to using a DAW, but it works well. The hardware buttons on the right side of the keyboard make it very easy to select tracks.

For the price it’s well made and nice to look at and use. It is plastic, but the fit and finish is consistently high quality. I found the keys feel better than some other similarly priced keyboards I tried.

Taking its price and intended use into account, I’m very pleased with the MOXF. I gave it four stars for handling just because these days, perhaps newer keyboards might have bigger screens or touch screens (at a similar price) that make them easier to use and set up. But if you are looking for a workstation keyboard the MOXF is still a solid choice and excellent value for money.

Great Synth!
timmytigerman, 14.05.2015
I bought this keyboard a few month back, and wanted to wait to see how it performed before writing a review

Handling: WOW this is light! I gig/practice bi weekly. The MOXF6 together with the Thomann Gig bag means that lugging up and down stairs is no issue, unlike my older Keys. It does feel a little plasticy as first (thats why its so light) but you get used to it!

Features: its got everything! lots of great sounds, great drums, thousands of arpeggios and its easy to use. The display takes a while to get used to, as its a bit small! Another great feature is its a great DAW. I use it with Cubase 7, its easy to integrate, and seems only limited in its use with my lack of knowledge of Cubase. I have also used it with ableton- again easy to connect and use. another great feature is that it can be used as an external sound card from my PC- meaning I no longer have to carry my USB box ( bonus). Another unexpected Plus its audio in socket. This means I can plug in a guitar or a microphone and use the onboard effects,! you can even expand the onboard sounds by expanding the onboard Flash ( I recommend the mutec boards, they are cheaper). using this you can use the MOXF as a sampler!

Sound: Wow this is the best bit. It has everything and more that I have could ever use: Pianos: over 30 sounds including a fantastic expressive Yamaha Grand Piano, honky tonk pub , amazing rhodes, whirli, and other elec piano sounds.
Organs: everything from Great Hammond B3s, to thin 60s bontempi, and with the ability to add great effects such as Leslie and distortion means you are covered for most purposes. Others: it covers both realistic rich orchestral strings, to synthesized DX strings. there are also a huge number of great phat synth sounds that can be used for everything dance!

Quality: It does feel a little plasticy, but you soon get used to it! but I am happy to trade this for its lightness!

Overall I love this kit!

PIano could sell this keyboard on its own
Adrian708, 13.03.2018
I bought the Yamaha MOXF06 to replace my ageing CS1x and finish off my gigging rig.I also have the Roland FA06 and these two keyboards compliment each other very well. One of the first things I noticed about the MOXF was its key bed. It really is nice to play compared to the FA06. The next thing that really impressed me were the piano sounds, they are absolutely gorgeous.I was also pleasantly surprised that Thomann included a 512mb expansion board in the package which I installed relatively easily.I downloaded the inspiration in a flash expansion from Yamaha, which contains several more usable sounds. The Yamaha is fairly easy to get started with there are three modes of operation Voice,Performance and Master Voice is for selecting individual sounds, performance is probably the one most people will use for gigging or studio situations as it is the mode where you can layer up to four individual voices. There are many different sounds for various styles of music. The MOXF has excellent piano, electric piano, brass, bass and organ sounds. It has a huge range of ethnic and solo orchestral sounds which were not really what I need it for.In comparison to the FA06 the synth sounds and string ensemble sounds are not amazing out of the box.In conclusion, this is a great mid level workstation,I like the security of having two keyboards in a busy wedding band that is why I bought this, however I would recommend having another workstation from a different manufacturer to give a gigging player the full palette of sounds required for all situations

Amazing for the price.
Douggie, 29.04.2015
I was looking for a keyboard that I could work with at home and take on the go with advanced recording features and nice sounds. Because this particular keyboard is completely based off the flagship Motif XF, I knew this keyboard wouldn't disappoint. This keyboard is ultra-lightweight, packed with beautiful sounds from the Motif. And it also has DAW remote features which works perfectly with software like cubase or almost any other DAW. If you are looking for a great keyboard and cannot afford the Motif, please give any of the MOXF keyboards a chance. You will not be disappointed and at the right price it's a no brainer!
