Sustain for ages and some more!
Dapapa, 02.11.2019
Im a single coil player and have a T and St style guitar which I enjoy much but wanted something else in my arsenal that can give more attack, body and sustain and as Im a single coil lad I naturally looked at guitars with P90's.

After much research I decided on this 502T Revstar and Im glad I did. Im a huge fan of G&L PTB circuit as I love to tailor my own sound. This Revstar has no such Passive Treble and Bass knobs BUT it has a Dry Switch (push/pull). This makes it a very usable guitar indeed and in any situtaion where cutting through the mix is essential! Another good thing is the Volume is also very usable and does not go muddy when you turn it down. Not sure but they might have used the 50's wiring here. What ever they did thumbs up!

P90's sound sound great. Very articulate and present. No mud here and if need be one can always engage the Dry Switch to spike up the tone and get a more twangy tone. being single coils they are not noisy unless Gain is cranked up of course.

Being a Mahogany guitar I was a bit worried about its weight as I dont like heavy guitars. Thankfully this exemplar of mine is lighter than my tele which I find comfortable. medium light guitar which will not wreck my shoulder.

The neck is indeed Medium. Its slightly chunkier than my Start ('62 style model) but not as thick as say LP guitars. Another plus from me. The high gloss might need sanding at some stage to make the neck faster.

Fretbaord is true Rosewood and is just lovely. Out of the box it looked oiled and fresh as a fretbaord should look. Frets are jumbo and easy to play. One slight minus from me is the frets are not all 100% leveled. They are not far off but my fret rocker feels slight uneven frets here and there. This is not an issue on my preferd 2mm action but for those of you liking very low action some fret leveling maybe needed. Again, this does not cause buzz and certainly no dead spots. This guitar sustains and rings like a violin! Btw, frets are highly polished and ends are rounded.

The Tail Piece is what gives this guitar that extra sustain and xtra overtones. I love it! I prefer to knock into it with my fist and then run that sound into a Delay pedal ... :) nice percussive sound as it also get the ringing of the strings a bit. The whole aluminum brushed hardware just looks stunning!

Looked at the wiring and could see small pots and that cheapo looking 3 way blade switch. All seems to be working well without crackling noise. The cavity is coated in a shielding graphite paint.

Tuners works fine. The nut could be cut a tid lower but will do for now. The paint job is just superb as is the binding.

Out of the box this guitar needed tuning and nothing else. It was ready to go on stage or studio without anymore setup (action 2mm which is perfect for me). Did I mention it comes with Elixir strings? :)

Are you after a well crafted and versatile guitar that also looks and sounds great? I say go with this one and happy days :)

Che chitarra!
lucagrimaldi, 25.11.2019
