Perfect for playing without noise
Maiti Gion 16.09.2020
If you live in an apartment and you play trumpet or other brass instruments you definitely want this mute.

I tried other "silent" mutes and the difference with this are noticeable: this one is lighter, it stays inside the trumpet (or the cornet), the air flow is nearly "natural" (usually the silent mutes restrain your breath very much more).

Last but not least, this is the one that permit to train yourself hearing what you are playing. I didn't try the "best brass" system which seems also very interesting so I can't compare to that, but the Yamaha one works great.

I put only 3 stars on "quality" because of the quality / price ratio.
The price for all the kit is around 200 € more or less, the cables are "cheap", the earphones are of poor quality (I use my AKG ones instead), and the "personal studio" maybe should have some effect or an integrated tuner to justify the price.
The good news is that you can use the system with any other brass, just buying the suitable mute.

In sum of all, very good tool at a reasonable price.

Alternative to classical mutes
SanyiTa 15.01.2020
First time I was impressed, that such an opportunity exists. Workmanship is ok, despite it, that seems to me like cheap plastic. Headphones has to changed for more quality ones.
Pros - hear real not muted tone, not so bad, as alternative to mechanical mute. Also possible used with reverb, feeling of hall.
Cons: weight (not so big disadvantage, but after an half of hour weight matter). For me, biggest disadvantage is back pressure, which some mechanical mutes do not have. So presently I play certain time on Silent Brass and some time on mechanical mute. If possible, practice without mute

Best on the market
Robin L 15.04.2020
It's very light and small compared to the older versions.
In terms of extra pressure needed, it hasn't improved much over older generations but honestly, that wasn't much of an issue anyway.

The sound is a tad more quiet tho so that's nice. (The older, almost bazooka looking one, had a bit more low end leaking through which you could hear better through thin walls at home.)

The sound from the device however is outstanding compared to other new and older devices. I wouldn't record an album with it or use it for live micing, but it actually sounds as if you are in a studio or a church. A very pleasant and full sound.
Tho I'd recommend to get better headphones than the one they give you.

A "must have" tool for studying in places where you can't be loud.
By a long shot, the best on the market.

Disappointed
Pittochat 08.04.2022
I had to have one of these. The mute function works perfectly. Sound is barely audible. I cannot say that the electronic audio function gives me the same satisfaction.
I couldn't hear anything at first I think the reason was the selection buttons can be misplaced; or maybe it was one of the jacks.
head phones look cheap so I tried one of my own but couldn't get it to work except then both volumes (headphone and device) where in max position. The reverb position one gives me something barely audible.

The device looks cheap, maybe there are contacts issues...

I need it otherwise I cannot practice, but I am very disappointed with the quality of the sound...
