Super Digital Piano
rafc 12.08.2021
I have bought Casio AP-710 BK Celviano Grand Digitalpiano as an entry instrument for my daughter who recently started taking piano lessons in the music school. I also wanted to be able to practice myself after a long break - there was an upright acoustic piano in my parents house, but I never had chance to play regularly after moving out.

I have decided for a digital piano over acoustic one for the following reasons:

- performance / price ratio
- ability to adjust volume and play on headphones in the evenings
- no need for regular tuning or humidity control in the room

Here are my observations after 5 months of using the piano:

Pros:
- Beautiful sound of 3 grand pianos (Berlin Grand, Hamburg Grand, Vienna Grand). I use Berlin Grand the most but this is very subjective.
- Very realistic sound produced by the sound chip + acoustic simulator, you can further modify the sound by opening the lid
- Realistic pedal action
- Sounds good with headphones - realistic stereo effect, 1 or 2 pairs supported
- Good quality / looks good in the room
- A lot of bells and whistles you can use and adjust to your preference

Cons:
- 3 sensors key action - since there is a force threshold, it can happen that there is no sound when you press the key too lightly, but you would expect a very soft sound from an acoustic instrument
- it doesn't sound natural at higher volumes - up to 50-60% volume sounds like an acoustic piano, which is more than enough, however speakers are not that dynamic when playing louder
- it takes a few seconds to boot the system after powering on (minor inconvenience)

Overall it is a very nice instrument at this price point. Brings a lot of joy to our family!

I bought the Casio Ap-710 like 6 months ago. I am so happy of the acquisition. The quality of the piano is so good, the appearance is particularly beautiful, the sound is flawless. I recommend it.
