Compact light mute

I didn't want to buy a traditional shaped bucket mute so I tried the Ira Nepus Softone mute. It does a very good job. Is very light and produces a bucket mute like sound. Saves me having to carry a bulky bucket mute around

Der Softone Mute hat den großen Vorteil, sehr klein zusammenknautschbar zu sein, so passt er noch in die meisten Cases rein. Das schafft sonst kein Bucket Mute. Außerdem kann er als Übungsdämpfer und als Bucket Mute verwendet werden. Klingt erstmal gut, klappt aber nicht zu 100%. Als Übungsdämpfer ist er nicht sehr leise, als Bucket ist es etwas Glückssache, welchen Ton man bekommt, je nachdem, wie weit man ihn überzieht (was man auch wieder als Flexibilität schätzen kann). Rein optisch macht der Softone eher nichts her, was in der Bigband schon ein Argument sein kann, wenn man als einziger mit so einer Schlappmütze im Posaunensatz sitzt.
Also eher ein Kompromiss bedingt durch die verschiedenen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und die Bauart. Und dafür angesichts der simplen Konstruktion recht teuer.
