Crafted from carefully selected spruce, the violin’s top complements the rest of the body, which in keeping with tradition is made from figured maple. The instrument also features ebony fittings, an ebony fingerboard, and Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings, and the body, built following Giuseppe Guarneri’s model with a subtle arching of the top and back, is precision-crafted to achieve the sound that is expected of an authentic Guarneri violin. The varnish also significantly influences a violin's sound, so to get the very best tonal properties from the wood, the Scala Vilagio R.O. Guarneri Lumiere Violin is hand-finished with a natural resin-based varnish manufactured in-house.
