Succeeds where all others have failed

Bazza, 07.07.2017
I've always struggled with my timing. With everything I play, keys, guitar, flute, my timing has always been my biggest flaw. I've tried all types of metronome but my brain quickly just tunes out the click and my timing drifts away from the beat. I find the Soundbrenner Pulse much easier to keep focused on and wearing it on my wrist I find my hands get more of a feel for the regular beat. As an experiment to try and improve my timing I wear it around the house while I'm doing chores or reading in order to try and tune my brain in to a steady beat.

The Pulse is easy to use and very customisable with a choice of different vibration levels, colour flashes and click sounds. It handles everything from a straight 4/4 to really bizarre time signatures. The tap tempo function is really accurate and quick to set.

As an IT geek I like that when I first switched it on there was a firmware update ready to go on so I know Soundbrenner are keeping on top of updates with improvements and fixes which I find very reassuring.

Tune the rhythm

Mr_T, 26.07.2017
Since there is no detailed product review about the sound burner Pulse, I decided to write one.

I'm a drummer, I've been playing in bands for 8 years and I've been playing the Pulse sound burner for 2 weeks now. Here are my results:

The first hours were more exhausting than imagined, and playing with the Pulse sound burner was an interesting new experience: the vibrations give you a completely new rhythm feeling that you do not know if you've never been with a haptic? Metronome has played. I personally like the idea of ??wearing a metronome like a watch (even if the time is missing!). In the beginning I found it hard to convert the vibrations 1: 1, but with the time playing became easier. The "luxury", finally no more click in the ear had to me was the Einübungsphase worth. This means to me: No annoying in-ear clicks anymore, no counting and the band is now synonymous more on the content of the content, since each member now a small? Takthelfer? Who can feel every flaw? power. Means that there are fewer excuses, why someone just does not play in time;)

I've been playing with the product since then, which is probably due to the well thought-out features that show what is possible with the sound burner and the app (3 to keep it short):

1. Adjustable intensity and length of the vibrations: The app can be used to adjust each vibration differently. This means, for example, in a 4/4 beat, the first beat can be subjected to a somewhat stronger vibration, and the following three with weaker and shorter ones.
2. Setlists: You can create your own setlists (folders of self-created rhythms) and even exchange with friends. Me and my band are currently playing a song, the rhythm of which we have adapted in the setlist and can now play together.
3. Multilink: How can you play together? The app can simultaneously connect up to 5 sound burner pulses via Bluetooth and synchronize the vibrations. A person controls the rhythm from the app.

Let us now turn to the things I still miss:

1. The product is not really made for girls hands! My niece could not carry the sound burner on the wrist, since the band is much too big for it. I had to fix it on her upper arm. I would be very for a children's version!
2. The product can be connected to your own app with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro and Pro Studio. What is NOT offered for Windows, but only for users of iOS (Macbooks)! This I do not quite understand, since the majority of all producing musicians with Windows works (at least those in my circle of acquaintances). The customer support unfortunately gives the answer that Windows is not planned because of the difficult Bluetooth compatibility first!

Conclusion

First of all, it is clear that an innovative product such as the Soundbrenner is a lot of space for criticism: I know many musicians who are nothing under a "vibration metronome"? Or can, because there are enough audio-click alternatives.
Why I do not use an audio metronome? I find vibrations better! Over time I got used to just a free "head"? When playing, and would not want to give it away. At some point, the developers still have to work, eg regarding accessibility of the DAW app and how to make vibrations even more precise.

Given the innovation hole in which the music industry has been lingering for years, I consider the Pulse Sound Burner to be a very refreshing and functional product, which shows the innovative power still hidden in the music world.
