Too fizzy for my tastes, with minor annoyances
Diatonico 19.02.2022
I was excited getting this pedal after seeing it in a Thomann demo ('Most versatile pedalboard ever? Cab M vs HX Stomp').

I was frankly disappointed. The build quality is great. The 3-band EQ is powerful and the switches (variac, pre-eq, gain) offer additional fine-tuning of your sound.

But the sound is way too fizzy for my taste, even with the treble all the way down, doesn't matter which switch is set at what or what amp I'm using. Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't bond with the core sound of this pedal.

The mid frequency didn't seem to do much either. Comparing to the Empress Heavy and Seymour Duncan Palladium, this mid freq adjustment is a total letdown. It's also at the back of the pedal.

I've got some other annoyances as well:
- The power supply connection is too deep inside of the pedal - most of my 9V adapters didn't even fit!! Sorry, but this is just terrible design.
- You need a precision screwdriver to adjust the mid frequency
- The sockets are tight

Overall it definitely wasn't the pedal for me. It's not a bad pedal, but I don't its fizziness. For high gain I'd prefer the Empress Heavy or the Friedman BE-OD. For distortion probably an OCD, RAT or similar.
