The ultimate stage chameleon – Precision, consistency, and evolution
ZeTRukes 16.02.2026
I'm a bassist playing in a covers band so I need total versatility between songs of our repertoire. With the Anagram i can change everything, between presets with pressing only a footswitch, without having to adjust every knob between songs.
After weeks of deep-diving into the Darkglass Anagram, I can say this is not just a pedal—it is the most sophisticated signal management system I’ve ever used.
The Chameleon Factor & Stage Efficiency is the real magic for me. The ability to transform your entire rig instantly. In a covers repertoire so vast and with very different songs, I need to jump from a warm 70s vintage vibe to a modern, aggressive synth-like pop tone or a precise jazz fusion sound. With the Anagram, I’ve eliminated the stress of turning knobs between songs. Every gain stage, compressor setting, and EQ curve is saved. More importantly for me, the internal pitch-shifting is a live saver that can handle different song tunings between songs without changing instruments or having to remember in what tone we play the song, keeping the workflow seamless.
Surgical Routing & FOH Independence and flexibility is one of the most powerful features i’ve exploited live. I can send a fully processed XLR signal with specific cab IRs to the Front of House (FOH) to give the sound engineer a "studio-finished" tone, while simultaneously routing a different signal to my stage monitors. This allows me to compensate for my own stage acoustics or my stack’s coloration without affecting what the audience hears. This level of independence is something analog setups simply cannot keep up as easily. All of this without extra gear or long analog signal chains that would lower my sound quality.

The processing blocks are clearly engineered for bass. The EQ block is a masterpiece of articulation; it’s powerful enough for heavy stylistic coloring but precise enough to surgically notch out a troublesome room resonance that only appears in certain venues, i woulnt mind to have a couple more eq bands adding to the existing 6, but it is powerful nontheless. The IR (Impulse Response) implementation for amps and cabs is exceptionally faithful, providing a weight and "color" to the sound that makes the digital transition feel completely organic.

I also appreciate that this is a "living" product. Darkglass is constantly pushing firmware updates that aren't just bug fixes—they add real value and new features. Knowing my gear is getting more powerful every month provides make me feel great about the investement i've made (yes, it is a premium product, but you can get so much out of it). Also there is this untapped potencial due to expression pedals and midi pedals that can be added later, as well as many other features that I didn't yet explored and tested.

So, if you are tired of the "tap-dancing" with your footswitches between songs and tired of having shelves full of analog pedals that "do everything", if you want a professional, bass-centric brain that handles complex presets with high-fidelity consistency, the Anagram is in a league of its own. It has completely changed how I approach my live performances, allowing me to focus 100% on enjoying the music while the Anagram handles the engineering.
Very much recommended

Huge little box
MarksBass 30.10.2025
I've gigged a few times now with the Anagram instead of my pedal board and it does exactly what I need it to and more...

I read a lot of reviews, watched a lot of demonstrations, and waited months after it sold out on it's initial release and was not disappointed in any way at all. It is everything I hoped and more, and so easy to use even a bass player can work it out ;O)

This replaced my pedalboard
chkhd 14.02.2026
+ I don't have a super-fancy pedalboard, and this managed to completely replace it.
+ The included stuff is more than sufficient to create dozens of tones to fit anything I played so far, from classical all the way to hardest metal stuff.
+ There is so much more to explore! Neural stuff, tons of additional presets! and more and more is becoming available! I am slowly dipping into more and more stuff and finding it fun and exciting.
- There is no power switch. Not an issue on the pedalboard, but considering you can use this as an audio interface to the computer it would be welcome.
- The twisting controls are not precise.. the amount of time I have to spend trying to set something to 10.0... not to 9.9, not to 10.1... but to 10.0 omg, it drives me insane sometimes..
- Cannot fully run from USB-C connection, you do need to connect the power supply even if using it as an audio interface.

Well it's good but...
Sconys 27.02.2026
So, thing is that digital technology of this caliber can do little bit of everything. But can it do it solidly?
If you are orchestrating your sounds for a wide style repertoire, it's a must in your backpack. But do the Sansamp block rumble like the analogue original? NO. Do the B3K block storm you as the analogue original? NO.
Do the alpha omega has the depth of the analogue original? NO. Nothing is as good as their analogue counterparts. If it was, maybe they would stop producing them. So to cut a long story the quality isn't there yet, and might never be enough to the real analogue enthusiast. But with all the effects in conjunction sure you can build a convincing sound. It depends on what your needs are in the end.
