dB Technologies B-Hype 8

Nice sound for the weight of it. Considering it has an 8 inch woofer i was not expecting much bass but it does deliver some surprising sound.
The high range is good, bass is 7/10 for the size, but should be more than enough for small restaurants or piano bars.
The really good thing is that for only 7 kg you get a very decent clear and balanced sound.
The on board DSP does boost the bass a little but these are not DJ speakers, nor are they designed for very high volumes. ( they do hit the limiter quite quick - even with the volume set at 12 o clock you can see it kick in if you really push them and from the 2 o clock position and higher, the limiter is on almost all the time, and the woofer does "spit" a bit trying to pump out more bass than it can - i was testing its limits, that is not how i will use it on a day to day basis ).
Should do great for jazz / cafe concert / classical / music, and even some small parties for 50 - 100 people.. i think a pair of these can do just fine on their own.
Worth the price.

The sound is ok, but doesnt really produce bass frequencies in any pleasurable manner, it is very straight forward and can get decently loud, but comparing to the Alto pro TX408, it really is much weaker, and lacks defenition.
It does double as a monitor with a very funcitonal tilt, and the handles on the sides are super practical.
i wouldve liked to see a high and low frequencies control, to be able to shape it into a more pleasurable experience, but as it stands, it sounds ok.
I believe there is a limiter that allows you to push the volume really high, and it doesnt distort proportionally, which i think ultimately is a good touch, it did allow you to push volume without destroying it. (an anti self-destroy button of sorts).
Simple and somewhat effective, but really does lack some features that would make it a lot better.
