Short slide
Even though it really depends on personal taste, this one is a really comfortable mini slide. It's really light and lets you use all your fingers when not using it. I use it for post-rock mainly, for some sliding, big-reverb notes here and there, and works great. Not suitable for full fingerboard slides though, since it's half the height of a regular slide.

Allows limited your finger
Bright sound. Short, so allows you to still somewhat use your finger; but not fully... also not so convenient for sliding on the lower string

Muddy Waters way
This half-finger slide takes more than a half, but less than those long ones which are so heavy weight for me. This is the real thing and you learn with less weight. Every guitarist should try.
