Amazing metal sound
Belzebut 02.11.2020
I've read a bit about this pedal and always compared it to the Boss Metal Zone, since these 2 pedals are the most highly recommended pedals for the Metal sound. This pedal has an amazing sound, really hard to explain. The tone can be easily changed by 'Low' 'Mid' Treble' knobs to your liking. I usually prefer more bass and mids rather than highs. I don't use the 'boost' button, I guess it's useful only for specific scenarios, like the one in the product description. The only drawback is that when connected to a mixer it introduces hum. I'm a beginner but from what I've read this is somewhat normal since I use a cheap power supply ,no DI box and no noise gate pedal.

I got this pedal with one led display not working, so we send it back and Thomann shipped new one within couple of days. Thumbs up for fast response!

This pedal can do it all, from metal to blues. A lot of high gains to minimal overdriven sounds. Maximum gain output is very high. It is also nice to have separate treble, mid, bass controls, so you can get all sorts of different sound colors. Boost button also comes in handy when playing solo parts.

Pedal is not pricey, well build and comes in nice black/silver color variation. Got cool name also. :)

It is not best pedal out there, but would definitely recommend it for players with limited budget.

If you want best blues or classic rock sounds don't bother with MM, you should go with tubescreamer, or if you have higher budget, some boutique overdrive pedals.

First hit of Muff
Ygvyth 14.11.2013
I'm huge fan of strong distortion effects. Through my adventures with guitars I've tested many metal effects.
Metal Muff have wide range of sound settings. Mostly its Lows and Mids are very visible in sound. Highs gives lots of sharpness, balanced to rest of frequencies.
Distortion sound is very clear, and deep. You feel its power.
Boost gives a huge kick in to sound sharpness, power, and volume. Real power, that can be incressed or decreesed as you like.
First feeling is like this sound is too muted or something... nothing more wrong. Its just different. This box need lots of patience and time for test many different settings.
Construction is very solid, knobs are ok, switches are solid and will stand even hardest boots.

One minus for this effect: Its dominating over other pedals on your pedal board. A bit confusing to plug it in " Your " Propper order with other effects, to not loose an edge of sound.

Sounds good, but not perfect.
Everything suits, I use at home and on stage.

K
Nice metal distortion with lots of range
KevinJansen 24.06.2021
This metal distorion sounds quite modern and can go from a nice 80's-ish metal sound to a modern sound that can be suitable for Mastodon or Nickleback-like sounds. The metal enclosure is very sturdy and is built to last for a long time. The 'top-boost' might sound very harsh when it's not dialed in properly and needs to be adjusted very delicately to prevent your ears from hurting a lot. The EQ on this pedal is very broad.

Good for the price

The overall build quality was surprisingly good, the extra feature of top boost was completely useless as it sounds like hot garbage when switched on, but otherwise a very nice sounding distortion pedal. Works best with metal.

I love it

Seriously, I love this pedal. I don't know why it gets a bad rep, I even found the top boost useful. it works so good in my setup. I have several amps I use as a clean platform and I make sure that my clean isn't too sparkly.

it even works good in low gain settings and is useful to get bluesy tones. plus it is built like a tank as expected from ehx

Awesome!
MarkJ 02.12.2013
I was looking for a distortion effect beyond what my guitar amp can do, and this pedal gives exactly the type of sound I was after. It has enough controls to allow you to dial in your preferred tone, and has a treble boost for solos. The only downside is it is big, so takes up room on my pedalboard, but it looks and sounds great!

with a good amp, you have a metal/rock distortion for life. is very versatile. has a very heavy sound, but at the same time very pleasant to the ears of those who appreciate this kind of sound.
since Jimmi Hendrix to Slayer!! Like it very much
