I bought these because our ceilidh band only has mandolin, violin, acoustic guitar and voices. I found that conventional box and column speakers channel most of their power to the lower frequencies. For us that meant our RCF ART 12a speakers and our ANT B-twig 8 column speakers were not providing enough power for our high and mid frequencies when we did big weddings. Now we just use 2 (sometimes only 1) of these FBT speakers. They are incredibly loud but with a clear, warm sound. In a recent gig in a med-sized sports hall with about 70 dancers (all very noisy) we only needed around one eighth of their output to fill the room and overtop the noise of the dancers. Given the small size of these speakers and their weight (less than 13Kg) they are incredible. We only need these speakers on their own for our ceilidh band but if we did a performance gig with bass and percussion we'd have no qualms pairing these with a decent bass bin.
