I never had one of these before. I kust got it and used it to restring four ukes. One of them had a buzz, so the strings were removed and re done a few times!! The tool performed well, not very smooth or anything but at the price you pay, its grand. Probably saved me a collective two hours of turning pegs!! I hopefully won't need it now for a few months but i already feel its paid for itself. The cutter works well too. You can wrap around the string and move up to the point so you don't risk cutting adjacent strings. Yeah I'd recommend it.

It does the job, but beware of what tuners you have

Overall, it's a decent tool for a really cheap price. The tool itself is a bit stiff for my liking, but I'm not gonna dock any points for that.

However, do be aware of what tuners you have on your guitar(s), because the string winder doesn't fit all sizes. If you are a bassist, you have nothing to worry about. But if you have guitars that aren't modern tuners with wider, flat buttons, the string winder will just barely do the job. If you have any guitars with vintage tuners, it won't grab the buttons at all.

But it also only cost three bucks, so it's not exactly a major investment.

Sometimes it is hard to grab the tuning peg correctly, if you manage to do so it works fine. The string cutter works great on guitar strings i have not tried with bass strings
