AW
Disappointing :(
Alan Warden 02.09.2019
I considered returning the guitar after a few days because it just didn't feel "right" for me.
After a string change and a lot of messing around with the tremolo to get it sitting right there was something about this guitar that just makes it feel cheap..
The paint finish is as good as it can be, no blemishes or noticeable imperfections - all OK there.
The balance is nice, so it stays wherever yo point it.
It's also a lot lighter than any of my Jackson guitars so it's quite comfortable to use on a long session.
The pickups are well matched for progressive tone changes through the five switch positions but the single coil in the centre is a different colour to the humbuckers and the pickguard. Another indication of cost cutting I guess, or a lack of quality control..
Sadly there are a few other bad points.
I swapped out the tremolo arm from one of my Jacksons because the one that came with the guitar had a tendency to come unscrewed as it was used.

I have played 8 gigs with the guitar and the lacquer on the bridge is already worn off on the bottom "E" through to the "G" strings - how bad is that ?
The "Jatoba" fingerboard is nasty.. even after a copious amount of "Doctor Duck's" oil it feels cheap. Would rosewood have been much more expensive ?
The frets were rough as hell straight out of the box and required a fair amount of polishing before they started to feel smooth enough to handle pitch bends without producing a lot of scratchy noise.

All in all I guess that I can get used to it enough to keep it, but it is unlikely that I will use it as my main workhorse.
As soon as I have my Jackson DK2S re-fretted it will be demoted to being my backup.

It is totally a great value for money!
The neck is comfortable and gives you a lot of flexibility.
It also makes your life easier since it always stays in tune (but you maybe need new strings when it comes.(not necessarily))
It has all the features of an original jem and the electronics make a great sound. The painting is also very good everywhere except a little bit on the screws.(only a little). The only thing you need to think about is if you can avoid becoming paranoid about it's cleaning since it is white and every little thing that sits on it might anoy you.(or maybe it's just me.)

A real Jem
Leo72 08.02.2021
I tried a Jem at the store when I ordered this one to compare the Jr to the much pricy Jem and I found no difference. Probably long term the floyd rose quality difference will become evident, but I felt no difference in the neck and pickups. If you want a Steve Vai experience and you can’t afford the other models this is your Jem.

Best beginner guitar! I had so much fun with this guitar even though the neck is not really comfortable to play.

Very good for the price
GiorgosP 16.07.2015
This guitar sounds very good, has very good quality and it has a very good price. With some modifications (pickups) will be a guitar that faces the original JEM.

Real Beauty

Admitting that i'm a Vai's fan, guitar is total beauty. In my level ( Sunday guitarist , aka Sunday drivers ) and former owner of Yamaha, Line 6 variax 700, Fender and Jackson ( the budget series ), this one is step forward. For the amount of money you get more than you expect . Sound is way above average, quality and features are great, stays in tune for a long time. Ok a small cons is maybe the sound in the 2nd pos from bridge , but this is a personal opinion , that others would find it fine. Once again a great product from Ibanez.

It looks as good as it sounds !
Yanato 07.06.2022
A really great and clean sounding guitar, I love it, making this review almost 3 years after my purchase, the only thing is to get used to tuning it. The neck is smooth and easy to play, the guitar is not too heavy (I play mostly in sitting position anyway), paired it with a Zoom G1X and Orange Crush Mini, best thing ever.

Poor paint and craftmnaship
mironas 26.04.2017
Very good guitar for the money with good sound, excellent fingerboardand and tremolo , but the quality is very poor, the painting around the screw is bad and generally it has minor flaws on the body. Maybe that what you get from indonesia ibanez.
