A fun little synth
There's a lot to like about the Monologue - it's packed with features (preset memory and a sequencer are great on a synth at this price but custom tuning in particular is amazing), the interface is well thought out and fun to use and, although it's cheap, the construction feels solid enough. It has a pretty wide range between smooth and driven and will handle bass, lead and acid-like sequences very well. The only let down for me is the sound. There's a sort of heavyness about it, not in the sense of "fat", but in the sense that makes it difficult to fit in a mix without having to cut with EQ a fair bit. For a fair comparison, the Korg Monotribe sounds absolutely fantastic and if they'd just reproduced that circuitry with the advanced features of the Monologue (second oscillator, better sequencer, MIDI, microtuning etc) I think they'd have made an absolute classic. If you can stretch a bit further you might want to look into the Minilogue xd which sounds pretty different to this (much nicer filter especially) and is absolutely brilliant for both poly and mono timbres. If you look through the other reviews you'll see plenty of Monologue users who are happy with the sound so my experience is by no means universal, but if you've tried other Korgs like the MS-20 or Monotribe, bear in mind this has quite a different character.

Nice price, Nice sounds!
I've been using vst's for a while but I decided I needed a hardware synth in a decent price range and went for the Monologue after watching a few videos reviews. I wasn't dissapointed at all! I really like the vintage-meets-modern design, It feels sturdy without being too heavy and it's pretty easy to use for someone who's not an expert in synthesizers! I use it with guitar pedals to get even bigger sound and it works really well!

I love this machine.
This was my first synthesizer, and I own it a while now. It is excellent if you are looking for a fun, in-expensive piece of hardware to create funky Bass lines, Acid tones and if you want to get a feel for creating your own patches.
It is a perfect machine for sound designing, creating stabs and stings for any sort of mediated content. I have had loads of fun playing with this machine and would recommend to anyone beginning in synthesis.

Good product for this budget
It's simple: you get what you pay for. It's a budget synth, but it does what you expect it should do. No complaints at all. Small and simple.

Great synth!
The monologue is a great monophonic synthesizer with lots of neat functions such as its microtonal capabilities and sequencing.
Overall a great synth for anyone looking for a cheap but powerful synth. Good for beginners to learn synthesis on.

Excellent for intro into synth. Will be using for recording and live. Already linked to a korg volca bass and the sounds are endless. Could spend hours messing with this thing. Amazing for the price.
