Great speakers.
Igorro, 04.12.2019
Combine M-Audios with IK ARC room correction system to get very precise studio monitors. In untreated studio room, mixing for panorama and depth using room simulations becomes very easy. Also mixing bass guitar with kick drum combining 40-60 Hz with 80-120 Hz is a piece of cake. Presence region for vocals, guitars and snare is also very clean.
Without IRC system in an untreated room these guys are quite bassy, so the bundle is a way to go.
Really good choice for the buck.

The monitors arrived in an enormous, very heavy box (usually a good sign with speakers). In the box was the power cables, speakers and a thin set of isolating foam pads for the base of each speaker, if you want to use them. No XLR cables were included.

When making dance music, a problem I often encounter is that poorer quality speakers can struggle with bass and become very distorted. These have very accurate sound, and I have had them close to full volume and didn't have any trouble with distortion at all. I work in a small room and liked the feature to reduce the bass for small work environments (a switch on the back of the speaker).

GREAT AT FIRST, THEN DEGRADES
Well That was a Useless Buy, 12.02.2020
Bought a pair of these BX8 D3's even though I hadn't heard them due to so called rave reviews, was great to start with, now ONLY a year later and the tweeter on the right hand one is intermittent so totally useless as studio monitors, have chucked them in the Garage, This has well and truly stuffed up a couple of mixes including ones that's released on Spotify and all before I noticed it was faulty, so two albums are too bright on the right side. I would return under Warranty but have heard the process is a nightmare. So will use as crappy listening speakers in the studio and all my paying customers & youtube viewers can hear how rubbish they are. Don't waste your money because they weren't cheap.

Good value for the money, but...
the-other-operation, 15.10.2017
Solidly built. There are compromises however to achieve this price point. Firstly, there is a noticeable mains hum. It's not bad enough to make them unusable but its a lot more noticeable than, say, the Dynaudio BM15 actives I use in the studio.

Secondly, the input is very sensitive (probably about -10dB) and not calibrated to any particular standard, which is inconvenient when connecting them to pro equipment.

Thirdly, the level knob on the rear is vague. It took a lot of fiddling with them to get a mono signal into the centre.

Sound-wise, time will tell - once they're run in a bit I'll have a better idea but my initial impression is good.

(Also, the UK mains leads Thomann shipped with them were very short - barely reaching past the bottom of the stands!)
