I am very pleased with this new addition to my bass family. A quick visual examination revealed no flaws to the fit or finish. Time to plug it in. The action and intonation were perfect right out of the box. And it plays beautifully. I had been put off the active Sires in the past by what looks to be an overcomplicated EQ. But this passive bass provides plenty of versatility with just a vol/vol/tone layout.

The price point this sits at makes it ideal for the experienced bassist (such as myself) who wants to give fretless a try. Without wishing to sound elitist, playing a very cheap bass after my more expensive instruments can be a bit arduous. But with its build quality and high-end features this bass suffers none of that, and at a price that will not break the bank.

Highly recommended. Good work, Mr Miller!

Sire V5 Fretless Delivery

I just received this to replace my old Warwick Rock Bass fretless. It shipped quickly and arrive within 5 days. It came well set up and played well out of the box. Well set up neck, very straight and low action. Although on the budget side for a J-bass, it sounds amazing and the neck is as tactile as it looks. The overall finish and feel of the neck is outstanding for the price, and pretty fine at any price point.

I adjusted the A and D strings which were a little high. Some simple advice such as, ACW to lower, would be nice in the online pdf manual. Adjusting is less than smooth and better engineering of the threads would be an improvement. The tuners also feel a little flimsy but do their job - again for the price, these are very minor complaints. Truss rod adjustment is also very simple. The bridge pick up came set up low but refuses to move up. This is a more serious issue but can be fixed.

Overall, and for the price, it really feels like a quality instrument and is a pleasure to play. Recommended.
