6. Hybrid Setups

A hybrid setup is a digital DJing setup expanded by an analogue DJ mixer, internal PC mixer or external mixer.

For this setup, the signal of each individual sound source or deck, respectively, is routed through a multi-channel audio interface to a likewise multi-channel DJ mixer. The signals are separately available in the mixer and can be mixed much like in classic multi-channel setups.

In the internal PC mixer, the audio signal is calculated and generated in the computer. This obviates loss of quality, but it requires computing resources. External mixing occurs in an external mixer, with the quality depending on the device used. The computer is not required to devote resources.

Expanded hybrid setup

Like an expanded controller setup, hybrid setups can be expanded by further signal sources, e.g. CD players or turntables.

Such a setup unites the advantages of the hybrid setup (analogue multi-channel mixing) and the expanded controller setup (among others, use of tracks not in your playlist).
