Works perfectly with Linux
eb303 06.11.2022
Bought this for a Linux laptop with which I wanted to record music. It worked perfectly out of the box: no installation of anything required, it was recognized at once, configuration was easy, and I didn't need anything special to start recording (I'm using Ardour with Jack). If you're looking for something simple and hassle-free for Linux, go for it!

Bought again
Yew Tree Pro 23.02.2021
I have owned one of these for 2-3 years and it's been great, so buying another for my son. Well made case, inputs that work for XLR or TRS jack are great, phantom power useful for condenser mics, and being able to mix input/playback is very useful when recording. Using with Logic Pro for recording various instruments, never had an issue. The headphone socket is on the rear, which might be a problem for some. Spearate output control for phones and monitors is useful.

O
Very good in that price range
Orim 09.04.2021
Nice, black(!), low latency, solid behaviour on Mac platform, good drivers for Windows, comes with some free software.

It will not beat professional cards, but then, professional cards are ten times more expensive.

It is really very good interface for home and mobile studios on budget.

Get this blue baby, you'll love it
simeon9446 23.02.2020
This blue baby is one of the best of its kind. And here's why. It's compact, it's metal and for the god's sake, it's BLUE!! What I like very much the placement of inputs and knobs. At the front face, there are two inputs for XLR or 6.5 mm jack. So you can easily connect your microphone and/or instrument. There's a knob for controlling headphones and there's a knob for controlling speakers. And also there is a knob that can control mix between inputs and playback. Good product, good price, I am glad I've bought it. Well spent money. Definitely recommend.

RD
Nice simple interface with MIDI.
Riccardo D. 24.09.2018
The AudioBox USB 86 is good. No boutique preamps of course, but it's built like a small tank and the sound is clean without audible artifacts. Most importantly for me, it has MIDI. That's why I chose it over similarly priced Focusrite products.

One small gripe I have is with the gain knobs. Their physical arrangement is less than immediate to grasp (I admit this is a minor issue). Also, I don't like the input/playback balance knob. I would have preferred to have separate potentiometers, or at least a signal path/mixer application in the audio card driver bundle (RME or MOTU style).

The software that comes with the card isn't bad at all, but Studio One is a crippled version that won't load VST/VSTi's, making it almost useless as a real production DAW. The provided plugins are really good - but remember, not VST/VSTi format, so you can only use them with this limited version of Studio One. Lexicon wouldn't even reply to my many messages asking for authorization info, so I wrote it off. Don't count on Lexicon plugins with this bundle.

Overall, I'm very happy with this card. I use it mainly for small edits on a secondary computer, with little recording (quick fixes on direct bass, synth noises). It works quite well, and I would choose it again if I only needed 2in/2out.

v
The best sound card in terms of quality / price
vdrug 10.05.2022
I had the first version of this card, but that's 48. It sometimes crackled when I turned the PC on and off. And didn't work with thick usb cables. In the updated version of audiobox96 all the shortcomings have been fixed. It is also very important for me to have a separate volume for the main and headphones. What competitors do not like. I like the sound. I liked that presonus also writes drivers, not "install asio4all should work"

g
Good USB interface
georgebranekov 14.04.2020
I used this exact same box several years ago so I decided to buy again this one. It is a great buy for the money - a dual channel, OK pre-amps, build quality is great, drivers work flawlessly (tried on Win 7 some time ago, currently running Win 10, no issues - works straight out of the box), it even has MIDI in/out if you want to use it with some MIDI gear, input latency is low (to the point it doesn't really matter). One thing I would have preferred to have is a -20dB pad switch or something of the sort as you need to be careful with line signal, the knobs go only down to -10dB for line input. I had some peaks using some guitar gear, however, if you keep this in mind you can mitigate it quite alright. Some minor bleeds here and there, but nothing deal breaking for me. Good product. Software is also nice to have as a bonus.

t
Solid audio interface
the_metaleon 21.12.2019
Bought this interface a while back, it's been consistently good, no glitches in the audio, no connectors issues, easy to use, clear sound, and Presonus drivers work in many DAWs without any problem.

The only minor issue that someone may have (I haven't had this issue, because of my setup), is that the headphone output is in the back, and it might be inconvenient for some setups where you can't have easy access to the back of the interface.

In conclusion, this is an inexpensive and brilliant interface from Presonus, I highly recommend it!
