Problem solver

RockBoard specialises in pedalboards and accessories, and has been offering a wide range of professional-quality products for many years. Their catalogue features pedalboards in various sizes and at various price points, ensuring that there is an option for every guitarist and bassist. Among their innovative solutions is "The Tray," which is designed to tackle a common and frustrating issue for pedalboard users: Mounting multiple power supplies on the underside of the pedalboard. With The Tray, this task becomes quick and hassle-free. It can accommodate power supplies of any manufacturer or format thanks to its practical and versatile design.

Rockboard The Tray

Simple installation

Like all RockBoard pedalboards, The Tray features a robust construction made from cold-rolled aluminium, finished with a durable black powder coating. This design ensures that it can withstand the demands of everyday touring, including repeated knocks and scrapes. To mount a power supply, the user simply attaches it to The Tray using the included hook and loop tape. The Tray is then hooked into the corresponding slot on one of the brackets underneath the pedalboard. To secure it, a plastic rivet is inserted by hand into the designated opening on the opposing bracket. The rivet expands, which allows the Tray to lock firmly in place. Additionally, the aluminium plate of The Tray provides added protection for the power supply, shielding it from external impacts.

For pedal lovers

Every guitarist or bassist has faced this issue: Once one starts using effects, it's easy to add more - often faster than expected. Before long, there are more pedals than the power supply can handle. This means constantly rearranging the pedalboard, choosing which effects to use and which to leave out. The obvious solution to this frustrating problem is upgrading to a larger multi-power supply, but these often don't fit neatly under the existing pedalboard or are tricky to mount. Fortunately, RockBoard owners (excluding the DUO series) don't need to invest in a new pedalboard. With The Tray, power supplies from RockBoard or other brands can be mounted securely and effortlessly under the pedalboard.

About RockBoard

RockBoard is a brand belonging to Warwick Music Distribution GmbH, which is based in Markneukirchen in Germany's Vogtland region. RockBoard's range focuses on pedalboards, which are available in numerous different designs to suit any application and budget, and are complemented by an extensive range of pedalboard accessories, from slick patchbays for expanding the boards and high-quality patch cables for loss-free connection through to high-performance power adapters and the "QuickMount system" for rapid effect changes. In short, RockBoard offers virtually everything that players need to easily set up their own individual pedalboard.

Suitable accessories

RockBoard offers more than just a wide range of pedalboards; their catalogue includes a variety of practical accessories and functionality-enhancing extras. For example, the innovative Quick Mount System eliminates the need for hook and loop tape by enabling pedals from top brands like MXR and BOSS to effortlessly "click" into pedalboard slots. RockBoard also caters for players' power supply needs with its proprietary Universal Power Supplies (UPS), which are designed to fit seamlessly into pedalboard slots or mount discreetly underneath. For added visibility and convenience on dark stages, RockBoard offers LED lamps that screw into the side of a pedalboard and draw power directly from the UPS. Additional accessories include pedal risers and step-ups to elevate specific pedals or rows of pedals for easier access. To top it off, RockBoard offers custom-designed gig bags and cases, guaranteeing secure transport and dependable protection for their pedalboards.

Nice, but should have been included with the RockBoard

The Tray does its job. You can mount it underneath a RockBoard and it can hold a power brick or some pedals. However, I found that when combined with a RockBoard TRES 3.1 it leaves not enough room for an isolated power brick. So I cannot use it. Also the Tray is fastened using plastic screws, for one-time use. Why? And lastly, why isn't this just included with every RockBoard?

Does the job - nothing more, nothing less

This is the recommended (only?) way you can store a power brick-style power supply under your Rockboard. I use it with a Dunlop DC Brick and the Cinque 5.2B board and it works perfectly.

Only slight criticism and why one star is missing - it didn't come with any instructions, so I was a bit puzzled how to use the plastic rivet thing, but once I worked that out it's totally secure under the board (hint -both bits go in from the top of the "tray" underneath the Rockboard).

Great solution for hiding your power supply
Pedalguy 03.09.2024
The undercarriage tray was the primary reason I went with the Rockboard line of pedalboards - the tray fits great underneath and I actually love the way it looks with the lights illuminated from below the pedals. I think the only thing I would change is improving the hardware it comes with, otherwise totally satisfied

Pointless if you use a Mod

It goes over the Mod so it’s pointless. Just use a ton of Velcro to suspend your brick, job done.
