Great strings
I am in an alternative metal band. I play fingestyle, but I also slap quite a lot. These strings have a great tone when using both techniques. I have never had a problem with cutting through the mix. The strings also stay in tune pretty good during long rehearsal sessions. To me, Rotosounds are extremely reliable. For over ten years of using them, I have broken only two strings, and in both cases this was after months of daily playing. However, I do wish that these were available with a 130 gauge string. Actually this cannot be considered a downside, I would say it's more like a personal preference.

Great strings for heavy music
Bought for the bassist in a progressive metal / rock band in which the bass guitar often has to carry the whole band whilst guitars play twin lead lines. He prefers the feel of the hybrid set on his fingers as it makes the low B less of a jump, and Rotosounds have a distinctly more powerful and clear tone than D'Addario or Ernie Ball. With these strings on a Fender J Bass, the soundscape is filled out with powerful, clear, crisp bass lines.
Tuning holds up well for over two months, but a larger 5th string would be needed for anything lower than B, so those using dropped tunings might consider a heavier gauge, but otherwise the cutting tone is perfect for heavy music. They need to be replaced after around a month to maintain this tone, so those looking specifically for longevity might consider coated strings instead. If tone and playability are your priorities, then these are a great choice. Would recommend.

Level 42 sound.
Inspired by Mark King and Scott Whitley, I bought these strings. Strings and their tone is a matter of preference. These are fine and when paired with a nice set of pickups and preamp produce a great slap tone.
