Heriba Double Bass String Winder

I was changing the strings on my double bass and was recommended to get one of these to help speed up the process.

For the price, it's just not worth not having one and it made the job much quicker and easier.

Solidly made out of plastic, it makes very quick work of installing a new string or set of strings on your bass.

The string winder will also work on electric basses with 'Fender' style machine heads so I'll get more use out of it than I was originally expecting.

A very useful item to have in your gig bag or tool box.

If you have never had to fit a new set of strings onto a double bass then you will have trouble appreciating the benefit of this particular accessory. It is however, one of those things, that when its needed, you need it a lot! ... a double-bass string fit-out can take quite some time. This is not only due to the overall length of the strings, but also due to the fact that strings (again, due to their length), stretch quite an amount when you start tensioning them up over the length of the instrument. The net effect of both of these things is that without a string winder you can end up giving yourself quite an amount of wrist sprain while re-stringing your instrument. This particular item is light and small, so will hide away in your case easily, but is also robust enough to last a long time. It is important when purchasing a DB string winder to ensure it is specifically designed for a Double-bass and has a good side socket for the metal end of the BIG DOUBLE BASS machine-head to fit into! ... all in all, very glad I purchased this product.

This is a High Quality product that is a very much worth the purchase. It's made out of a stable plastic that will last and that feels comfortable to use. I initially brought it to use on my double bass tuning pegs when changing strings. I later found out that i could just as easily use it on electric bass tuning pegs of similar size. Not to long ago i had a situation where i broke a string on my double bass just before a Jazz gig. Having only about ten minutes before we were on to play i had to change the string. I luckily had this tucked away in my double bass case along with my spare strings. This little tool was put to good use and i had the string replaced in a few minutes. After that incident i feel its such an important tool for any bassist. You wont be let down at all.

De Heriba doet wat hij voorhoudt: je helpen bij het wissleen van snaren van je bas of contrabas.

Door de Heriba kan je veel sneller en eenvoudiger snaren lossen en opspannen.

Gemaakt van stevige plastics, zodat hij wel lang mee zal gaan, denk ik.

Enige nadeel: de houders waarin de stemsleutels van je bas of contrabas passen, zijn erg ruim bemeten, waardoor je bij het wikkelen een hand op de houder moet houden, anders springt die weg van de sleutel.

Ik heb dat verholpen door een stukje PE op maat van de sleutelhouder te knippen. Werkt prima zo.
