Underrated pickup that deserves way more attention
I put this pickup into my '87 Charvel model 4, as the stock Jackson J50BC is just too weak without the onboard boost (which I don't like anyway/might be faulty after 40 years). It really brought the guitar to life, way more output, feels more output than a JB to me. It's tight but definitely not overly tight there's still some meat on it. The highs are nice and clear but not shrill. Harmonics pop right out. It's got this awesome growl in the midrange on overdriven sounds i.m.o. If you're looking for an alternative to a JB for 80's sounds, the OG Parallel Axis might be worth a look. However it's not a one trick pony and can do more modern stuff just as easy (check Brandon Ellis out who uses these and his signature version).
