Does what it says!
Sometimes its hard to find the proper Steinberger double ball strings. Thats when this comes in. Its a bit of a faff with the allen keys, but its small and works well. Might just save a difficult situation. I always carry it with me.

Now you can use normal (single-ball-end) strings on your Steinberger!
It's a simple enough thing, and it doesn't even need to be installed - it's held on by the tension of the strings.
There's one gotcha: if you over-tighten it, you'll break the string. Adding a captive flat plate of metal under the grub-screws would have increased the price, but it would probably have been worth it. Personally, I've only made that mistake once... so far.

Thing I needed
After buying an Hohner B2A headless bass, this gadget was just what I needed.
Now I can easily put whatever string I like on it. No special settings or problems of any kind.
The adapter is not fixed on the end of the neck, it is just mounted on its place and it is keep hard with just a pressure of the strings.
Great piece of equipment!

Essential equipment for Steinberger basses
The factory fit Steinberger double-ended strings are /horrible/. They have a super-grippy texture which makes them really hard to play. So you're going to want to open up the world of normal bass strings, so you need one of these doodads. Changing the strings is a bit of a fiddle, especially the first time. You need to fit the strings, trim them to length, then take them off. Then trim another few mm, but no more, so that no sharp pokey bits are on the end of your instrument. Then finally refit and enjoy.
