Much quieter (volume drop) than other TAD preamp tubes. Low gain; definitely not for anything that requires more gain than Beatles.
Good for cleans.

Warmer than EHX
I bought this to replace my Blackstar HT-1R Metal's power section,
it originally had an EHX ECC82EH but I noticed that turning the volume from 9 to 10 had a huge sound difference, at 10 there was a ton of extra saturation, with spongy low and fizzy top end which was extremely annoying coming out of my beloved creamback neo.
After replacing it with this one, the sound got natural , the signal a bit louder, fuller and without the annoying almost white-noisy top end.
Now that little marvel of an amp sounds fantastic in any of my cabs!
I'm looking forward to experimenting with more tubes, but having this tube as a good, solid reference.

Perfect replacement!
I replaced the original powertube of my Blackstar HT1RH with the TAD RT005 and I was surprised by the result!
The amp sounds bigger at bedroomlevel.
It has warm and bright sound and very low noise.
I recommend this tube to all HT1 users, to get an warm, bright and creamy sound!

TAD stands for quality!
A very low gain but very smooth tube. I experimented with the AU7 in the V1 and V3 positions of a Hot Rod Deluxe. Some interesting results to be had, but if you're looking for bite, look elsewhere. A versatile tube but for low gain applications.

I'd choose this tube again
I bought this preamp tube when I had to re-tube my amp, and luckily enough, I chose a series of TAD tubes. I have this 12AU7 tube in the preamp, together with other 12AX7 type of tubes, and all of these are working just fine since many years. You really shoudn't take this for granted nowadays! Just make a quick search on the web for how bad many actual tubes are made, these days, and you'll see. So far, this one seems good enough

Great tone, but mine was slightly microphonic
Tubes of the same make come with some variations. The one I received gives my BK Butler RT driver a great tone, but it gets somewhat microphonic at higher volumes.
