Compact rack-ready media player
The Tascam CD-400U DAB is a versatile media player that can handle not only CDs but also data from SD cards and USB. In addition, it comes with a radio and Bluetooth receiver, and to round off this immense flexibility, signals from external devices such as a smartphone can be also played back via the AUX input. The front panel features a clear user interface with a backlit LC display, providing quick access to the device's many playback functions. Taking up just one rack unit, the Tascam CD-400U DAB fits easily into any 19" rack, making it an excellent choice for permanent installations.
Play, record, and copy any media
The Tascam CD-400U DAB is not just a media player: It can also record and copy audio CDs and USB data using the DUB button – no computer required! In addition to playing back storage media, Bluetooth connectivity also allows it to receive signals from smartphones or tablets. The radio tuner for FM and DAB+ has an independent output in RCA format, allowing simultaneous playback of audio data on another medium; as such, multiple rooms can be supplied audio from different sources. Up to 20 radio stations can be stored in preset slots for quick access, but that's not all: The CD-400U can also record entire radio programmes. On the rear panel, outputs are available in the form of unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR connectors.
Ideal for permanent installations
The Tascam CD-400U DAB is ideal for permanent installation in 19" rack setups, where it can serve as a flexible playback source for touring performers or for background music in restaurants, bars, shops, or public facilities. In addition to the FM/DAB+ tuner, it can play CDs and audio files in WAV, MP3, AAC, and WMA formats from storage media, and the CD-400U can also receive external signals from devices such as smartphones via the AUX input or Bluetooth. Thanks to its RS-232C serial port, it can be controlled by an external controller, and with the optional IF-E100 Ethernet card, it can also be operated over a network.
About Tascam
Tascam started out in 1971 as Teac Corporation's distributor of professional audio equipment. The name is the acronym of Teac Audio System Company of America. Tascam was a great innovator on the market and pioneered leading technologies of the time, such as multitrack tape and cassette recorders, digital multitrack recorders (DTRS), digital mixing consoles, and so on. Today, Tascam supplies the entire sound industry with products for television and radio studios, recording studios, concert halls, conference rooms, academic institutions, commercial facilities, theatres, internet podcasters and broadcasters, music producers, and musicians.
Couldn't be easier to use
The Tascam CD-400U DAB plays CDs via a slot-in drive, which is both faster and mechanically less prone to faults than a conventional tray-loading drive. The drive supports normal, single-track, or random playback, and incremental playback allows users to skip to the next track with each press of the play button. A headphone output with volume control makes it easy to monitor the CD-400U's signal, and tracks can be selected directly by number using the numeric keys on the front panel or the remote control that is included in the scope of delivery. The display shows track information and a variety of time indicators, and to prevent incorrect operation, a key lock can be activated. The package includes the player itself, a detachable power cable, the aforementioned infrared remote control, a set of screws for rack mounting, an FM antenna for radio reception, and of course a user manual.
