Good to EQ your speakers and to record with.
Anonymous 27.12.2016
I use this microphone both to record and to equalize speakers with to eliminate peaks caused by resonances (both by rooms and by speaker cabs).

I've recorded some concerts and used it to record drums as a overhang microphone, for this it did sound absolutely accurate and nice, which is a good thing, as you're able to record it, sounding as realistically as possible, in my opinion atleast.

I've also used it to tune speakers for specific locations (because sometimes certain frequencies get boosted quite a bit, and to get it to sound as flat as possible), where it, again, in my opinion, absolutely does a good job.

Clarity:
I've absolutely got nothing to complain about, the fact it does only reach up to 18kHz isn't that much of a big deal to me as it's still a great sounding microphone doing what i'm using it for

Overall quality:
I really do like the nicely machined seamless metal housing, it appears to be very high quality, and sounds like it too.

Inaccurate calibration
Tomás Mulcahy 02.02.2024
I compared this to a Sonarworx microphone using Sound ID reference to calibrate speakers in an acoustically treated room. I had to very carefully enter the printed custom calibration graph as a list to make a calibration file for Sonarworx. The graph claims the mic is flat within 2dB for 85% of the spectrum.

However I got quite different results between the two mics. The T Bone produced quite a different curve above 2kHz which gave an audible difference. Sonarworx themselves confirmed that the cal file was fine so I can only conclude that does not match the microphone. Perhaps there was a mixup at the factory, or the mic's performance has degraded since I bought it in 2018.

The mic does sound flat when used for recording.

Excellent for overheads

That was funny I've looking for a cheap mic for recording cymbals on my drumkit. I've just went to Thomann list just as usual and put t.bone mics into the search box, then sign ascending order and I realize there is a measurement mic.

Uhh....I check the technical datasheet of that and it's frequency range was incredible....20Hz-18kHz and it's within +-3db in whole range...it's only going out at the low end...so I sad what else is better for cymbals.

Now I have it and I'll buy one more for my kit. There is nothing like hit this recording quality, frequency range and sensitivity around that price. I love it!

Value for money but uncalibrated
MeJ 30.10.2015
This is essentially identical to all other low-cost small diaphragm chinese measurement mics. However the mic is not individually calibrated, not a surprise with the price. The average curve supplied looks honest and for low end measurements it will do as-is. It is of course possible to get it calibrated.

Does what it has to do at a low price!

Great measurement microphone! I used it for treating many studios and hifi rooms and even dropped it a couple of times... Works as it's supposed to and looks (and is) very durable! You even get a paper with the microphone's own frequency response, and that at this price. Go Thomann !

Don't care if a forklift hits it
trb123 18.01.2018
Works just fine for PA tuning, but most importantly - it's so cheap that I don't mind if it gets run over by a forklift!

It's actually standing up to the road very well, it's been rained on, sat on, trodden on. I'm quite surprised it's still going to be honest!

I doubt you can get a better measurement microphone for this price. very well made. It's a shame that it doesn't have a hard case included like other microphones from the.t.bone, but it's okay.
