Really Surprised

With the JK 4D mouthpiece this horn really sounds great. Intonation seems as good as my Kanstul 1001 and the sound is very good. Everywhere from mellow and sweet to white hot and edgy… Got love that rotary sound! However with my Schilke 20d2d (Long time favorite mouthpiece) it was very squirrelly and not recommended. Had heard some advice on a forum that you should get a German MP for a rotary Such as JK and Breselmair. Well so far I can say that really seems to be very sound advice. The biggest issue I have found is the 3rd valve slide is scratchy feeling but seems to operate OK, and I hope in breaks in and smooths itself out.

After going back to back with my prized Kanstul I have a new favorite horn… interesting…. Maybe one day I can upgrade to a Schagrel or something in that realm but for now this horn really punches above it class…

After buying a Thomann TRF-23 and now the Concerto I GMS I feel I can honestly say that Thomann horns are true winners at their price point and I am glad I purchased them.

Good job guys!

SO
Decent Sound, Questionable Tuning
Semipro Orchestra Trumpet 12.02.2022
Sound is decent, but not amazing. Tuning is good in the lower and middle register, but gets a bit flat in the upper register. This can be overcome by the use of alternate fingerings (specifically Eb and E at the top of the staff and B and C above the staff). It's not a bad instrument for the price, but it's by no means a professional quality instrument. I could see this being good enough for a beginner or intermediate player, but look elsewhere if you want something to perform with. The valves are excellent, but the slides are very stiff and take a bit of force to remove. I also purchased the Classica II GMS which is a far superior instrument in every way. Save some extra cash and get the Classica. I plan on returning this instrument and buying an identical Classica to the one I purchased.
