For amateur home playing this seems to me a very good compromise between gut and steel at a very reasonable price. The response to the bow is very nice. However, the A string below any quality standard, it is useless and broken within a week. To calculate its cost I would recommend to dismiss the A string and purchase this set as a 3 string set that needs to be completed with a single A string from another brand.

The golden standard, great sound an no fuss
I was thinking about picking up fancier strings for my cello, but I think Dominant's are excellent value for an intermediate player like myself, with enough dynamics to be able to play with subtlety or power.
I am sure pricier options open up even more sound options to advanced or professional players. But for me this is the perfect product, the strings stay in tune, sound sweet and I expect them to last a long time.

Quality strings
Strings are always a subjective choice, needing to suit both player and instrument. I've tried quite a few strings over the years. These are a quality string that I have no complaints about, I just have a preference for others.
