Versatile, but gets hot!
CarlL 03.06.2016
This is a fantastic power supply with a lot of options for powering whatever you can throw at it. It's very neat and small and the range of cables included in the box really should cover everything. It buzzes a little, but imparts no sound on the audio signal.

The only issue I have with this is the heat; it gets VERY hot. I'm running it on 230V, using 5 outs (9VDC only), but only drawing 1.1A of the available 1.5A, with none of the individual outs drawing more than 265mA. After an hour or so this gets so hot that it would burn your hand. It worries me to the extent that I won't leave this switched on unattended. For this reason it would be nice if it included an On/Off switch.

Nice features, poor quality

I ordered this because it seemed to be exactly what I needed (and what probably most people who have some but not hundreds of effects to power). One of the main advantages is probably the fact that the outputs provide each 300mA (which I need because I want to power a palmer octobus switcher and some more digital pedals).

I was very disappointed with the Chameleon, I'm not even sure if it was broken or something - It made my fuzz (Black Arts Pharaoh) hum like a planet populated by giant wesps. It also caused noise on other pedals, in fact you could really hear how the noise was getting louder with each pedal connected, even with stuff that would work without power (i.e. lehle dual) and even if the pedals weren't in the audio signal chain.

I sent this back and got a pedaltrain powertrain and am happy with it. Probably not gonna buy any T-Rex power supply in foreseeable future...

Top Notch

For the ammount of power (1500mA - 300mA each output) this supply gives you, its surely the best bang for buck. High quality and reliablity from t-rex as always, and 2 pedals i use (wireless and drop tune) require 300mA each, very hard to find a power supply at this price range that offers 300mA in the individual iso outputs. Plenty more power to run tonnes of other pedals with the remaining outputs then. Not to mention the options to run my 12V pedals at full capacity getting max headroom. Awesome power supply! I'm about to buy a second one for home use and another board for other projects.

Great and versatile power supply useful if you have pedals with different voltage requirements in your board and boxes that might have problems running on common or no-name power adapters from electronics store. Also very handy in stage situations where different sources of electricity are used for different parts of your gear or generally for elimination of unwanted electrical hum in your signal. Bought this unit almost 7 years ago and even with the paint beaten off on the edges, it still works like new.

Wonderful, quiet and highly flexible power supply
Anonymous 26.06.2014
The T-Rex Chameleon is one of the most powerful and flexible power supplies on the market today. It can be used with both 110/220 voltage and has isolated outputs for 9v/12v/18v DC and 9/12v AC. The power supply comes packaged with all the necessary cables including daisy chain cables for connecting more than one effect to each outlet. The main power cord is a standard IEC cable meaning that it is easy to switch out for other longer/shorter cables.

The first three outlets are switchable 9/12 volts with a dip switch. Outlet 4 is switchable 9/18 volts. Outlet 5 and 6 are recommended to be used only one at a time. If you use 5 - it is identical to outlets 1-3. Outlet 6 is for use with pedals that require AC power. Each outlet provides 300 mA of power for a total available of 1500 mA.

The outlets are isolated and dead quiet. The ratings are accurate as I have had no problem powering even power hungry pedals from the supply. I have owned one for nearly a year and just purchased a second one.

Highly recommended

Does what it says on the tin, and quietly.

T-Rex's Fuel Tank Chameleon is indeed built like a tank - the casing is metal and very sturdy, and the whole unit carries a considerable weight to it. This could be a downside if you are looking to keep a very light rig.
The unit's power is completely clean and having several separate isolated outputs is definitely a bonus, and much more so than others in its price range.
It includes more adapter cables than you could need with it, including a voltage doubler and some different types of adapter for odd or vintage pedals.
A downside is that the only included power cable is for EU-style 2 pin sockets, meaning that I had to go and buy my own one separately.
Another problem is that although it fits nicely underneath, it does not fit with the brackets that come with my Pedaltrain board, thus it is currently stuck on to the bottom with velcro, which I do not necessarily trust with heavy use.
These two points are rather minor, though, for a PSU that does its job and is built very well.

Good competitor to VL
Mark9156 04.04.2015
I needed a single power supply for my effects, and was planning to buy a Voodoo Labs model. However the Trex range had received some good reviews, and considering the price difference I decided to go for the Chameleon.

In review, the block is a tough little unit, all outputs are isolated and that really cleans up my signal path. The amount of different configurations available is fantastic - 9v, 12v & 18v and various other things. As someone that often changes pedals, this will prove really useful in the future.

The only thing that I'd say is a slight negative, is that you only get 5 outputs (although it can be daisy chained) so, for me, these got used up pretty quickly.

Overall, the amount of options available still make this a great buy.

Effectively hum free when using all 5 outputs!
Joshua Adam 02.12.2014
This power supply gives out just enough amperage per output to power some of the most power hungry pedals, such as the Strymon Big Sky. When I hook up pedals to all 5 outputs, even daisy chaining a few from one output at the same time, the power supply is more or less hum and noise free with my set up. Construction is very solid and I never fear for its health when chucked hastily into a pedal bag or accidentally trodden on when on stage. I get the impression it will last me many years and will only be replaced if I ever need a unit with more outputs..... OR, I could just get another one of these and use two!

Stable and reliable!
Anonymous 28.01.2017
Never had any problem with mine! It has enough power to fuel my 10 pedals and sometimes more. One thing a particularly love about this product is voltage selector and the amount of cables that comes with it...my board is quite complicated but I still have more than half of the cables unused :)

This power supply is amazing!! Good size, price, contruction, weight, a lot of connections and voltages.. I'll leave this one just for a Strymon Zuma.
